Matthew picked Zachary up and let the lynx rest on his shoulder. He offered soothing words while pacing around and patting Zachary’s back.
Zachary’s whimper gradually grew quiet, but his tears continued to fall.
Soon, Matthew’s shoulder was soaked.
Zachary was usually gentle. He never had a meltdown before.
Matthew’s expression darkened. He suggested, “Let’s visit Wesley now. You can get back at him however you
want.”
The two cubs echoed his suggestion. “Yeah! We’ll pin him down for you.”
Then, the trio started to storm out.
Zachary pressed his front paw against Matthew’s shoulder and straightened, letting out a quiet whimper.
Matthew kissed the corner of his eye. “Don’t worry. Just hit him.”
Zachary let out a panicked squeak.
Taylor rolled up his sleeves. “We need to beat him up for being a bully! It’s us against him!”
Since Zachary couldn’t convince them to stop, he jumped out of Matthew’s arms and curled up on the beast–hide mat, and hid his face behind his paws.
The trio circled him anxiously.
Taylor suggested, “Zachary, we can make you candied fruit.”
Jaden asked, “Sire, do you want to see the snowman?”
Matthew chimed in. “Or I can take you for a stroll in the mountains?”
They came up with more ideas.
“How about the hot spring?
“Or we can catch some rabbits?
“I think we should just beat up Wesley.”
Their voices eventually calmed Zachary, although his heart still ached whenever he looked at Jaden.
He even thought about hiring a group of thugs to beat the other Wesley if he had a way to contact the modern world.
Meanwhile. Harper was tending to Wesley’s wounds when he sighed worriedly. “Why did you provoke him in the first place? He’s no longer the pushover. Besides, can’t you see Matthew is protective of him?”

Nearby, Gerald sat on a rock with a gloomy expression.
Wesley gasped in pain. “Ouch, be gentler!”
Harper felt bad seeing him in pain and warned, “Next time, stay away from him.”
Gerald growled. “We’re not letting Zachary walk all over us!”
Harper glanced at his bald patch and decided to stay quiet.

Wesley’s face was still wet from crying. He clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms. “It’s not fair. How could he be the only one living a good life?”
He whispered a few words into Harper’s ear before lying on the bed.
Harper exhaled deeply and headed over to the chief’s place.
The chief’s house was located in the center of the tribe. Many visited him daily. When they noticed Harper’s serious expression, they surrounded him.
Alfred answered the door when he heard the knocking. “What’s wrong?”
Harper, looking sad, dabbed his eyes to wipe tears. “Zachary beat Wesley up. Wesley is badly injured and can’t even get out of bed. Chief Alfred, I want justice for him.”
His cries grew into wails.
The crowd heard every word.
“It sounds bad.”
“No way.”
“The fight was indeed a bit intense.”
“All I saw were scratches.”
The crowd exchanged a look. Those who witnessed the fight began to recall the scene.
Alfred facepalmed. “Get the shaman and have him treat Wesley.”
Bruce didn’t understand why he was summoned. Behind him, Donald was carrying a basket of medicinal
herbs.
They entered the cave to find Wesley moaning in pain on the bed.
Bruce did a quick check on Wesley out of duty. The wounds looked bad, but they were merely scratches and bite marks.
No bones were broken, and no organs were damaged. He wondered why Wesley was immobilized.
He stared at Wesley suspiciously and pressed a spot randomly. “Does it hurt?”

“Yeah…” Wesley bit his lip, his fingers tensing.
“How about here?”
“It hurts too.”
“And here?”
“It also hurts.”
Wesley cried in pain whenever Bruce pressed a spot. Later, he even claimed pain before Bruce touched a
spot.
If Bruce had doubts earlier, he now had a conclusion. He cleaned his hands and walked out.
Harper walked up to him. “Mr. Bruce, how’s Wesley?”
“He’s beyond help. He’s dying soon,” Bruce answered flatly.
“What?” Harper panicked instantly. “Mr. Bruce, please save Wesley!”
Hearing that Wesley was on the brink of death, Alfred also spoke up. “Is there really nothing that can be done?”
The revelation shocked the crowd, surprised that the fight turned out to be fatal.
Bruce planned to leave immediately, but he changed his mind when he saw the crowd.
He cleared his throat and put on a serious expression, “You really owe Zachary.”
“I don’t get you, Mr. Bruce.” Neither Harper nor Gerald understood him.
“Wesley is seriously ill,” Bruce said as he walked away. “Thanks to his fight with Zachary, we discovered his disease.”
“Mr. Bruce, please save him!” Harper took the bait and grabbed Bruce’s arm, begging.
Bruce calmly slipped his arm out of Harper’s grasp and took a few back.

Donald sidestepped to shield Cruce and warned Harper, “Calm down.”
Bruce continued. “However, I happen to work on a new medicine at home. It might work. I’ll prepare a few doses for Wesley. He must take them on time and in the correct amount.”
Harper nodded readily. “Of course! Thank you, Mr. Bruce.”
Meanwhile, Matthew was feeding Zachary broth in the cave.
