Chapter 252 Little Ears in the Morning Sun

Matthew murmured, “Nothing. Go back to sleep.”

Is he getting self–conscious about his body? Zachary wondered.

That thought chased away a little of his sleepiness. In the dark, he shifted higher and cupped Matthew’s face with both hands, his expression turning unusually serious.

“Listen to me. Your body is amazing–broad shoulders, a narrow waist, long legs, and defined muscle lines. No one even comes close.”

While speaking, he gave Matthew a firm squeeze on the chest and said from the heart, “You have no idea how jealous I am.”

His voice turned even firmer. “Do not think about losing weight. Not even a little. Understand?”

Matthew answered at once, “Got it.”

Zachary finally relaxed. He slid back down, pressed his cheek against Matthew’s warm, springy chest, and gave it a loud kiss before closing his eyes again.

A short while later, Matthew suddenly asked, “What if I become fat in the future?”

“Then I will still like you.” Zachary did not even hesitate. “A chubby panther would be cute too.”

Matthew sounded very serious. “If I am too fat, I will not be able to hunt.”

“That is fine.” Zachary had no concern about that at all. “You can stay home. I will grow food and feed you.”

“Farming is hard. You do not have claws.” Matthew tightened his arms around him. “I will not become fat.”

Zachary almost laughed at how solemn he sounded.

Matthew stroked the back of Zachary’s head. “Sleep.”

“Mm.”

By morning, pale sunlight had slipped through the leaves outside the cave. The thin mist softened the light, turning it into long, gentle streaks.

Zachary stretched before stepping outside. A cool breeze lifted the loose hair on his forehead, and the crisp air brushed over his face, clearing away the last bit of sleep.

Jaden was already beside the animal pens. He threw fresh grass into the little rabbits‘ area first, then went to feed the chicks.

The worms had been collected by Taylor and Jaden earlier. Whenever the two cubs played near the creek. they liked to dig around for worms, bring them back, and hide them in a large stone basin filled with soil.

Zachary mostly fed the chicks vegetable leaves, fruit pits, and other scraps. Their extra treats usually came from the two cubs.

Once the chicks grew bigger, he planned to fence off a patch of forest near the cave. They could run around there and search for food on their own.

The little rabbits had grown quickly as well. Their fluffy bodies crowded together in soft piles. What had once been barely more than a dozen tiny balls now filled two full rows of the rack.

Jaden noticed Zachary and immediately washed his hands. He shook the water off in a messy rush, then ran over with bright excitement in his icy–blue eyes.

Zachary bent down and rubbed his head. “What happened?”

Jaden lifted his face. His thick lashes trembled slightly, and he grabbed Zachary’s hand as if he could hardly wait. “Sire, look.”

Right after that, two furry ears popped out from the soft hair on top of his head.

They had rounded tips, and their insides were covered with pale gray fuzz.

Jaden looked both nervous and happy. “They came out this morning.”

Zachary stared at him, and his heart nearly melted. Wow! A human–formed cub with beast ears is just adorable. Whoever created this world is truly a genius.

Jaden lowered his voice. “Sire, you can touch them.”

Zachary carefully brushed one ear with his fingertips. The ear twitched immediately.

He touched it again. The fur was smooth and soft, and when he gently pinched the edge, he felt the thin cartilage beneath the fluff.

Since this was his own cub, Zachary had no reason to hold back. “Jaden, how are you this cute?”

The ears flicked again and brushed against Zachary’s palm, making his skin itch.

Jaden suddenly grew shy. He lowered his gaze, and a faint pink flush spread across his cheeks and the tips of his ears. “Sire… do you like them?”

Zachary picked him up and held his little face. “Like them? I love them. I love them so much.”

A tiny smile slowly appeared on Jaden’s lips. “Sire, you can touch my tail too.”

Zachary blinked. “Your tail can come out as well?”

Jaden nodded. He tugged his beast–hide pants down slightly, and a long, slender black tail slipped free. It swayed from side to side before stretching toward Zachary.

Zachary rubbed the fluffy tip, and his heart almost gave out.

Jaden is usually such a calm, collected little cub. Now he has soft beast ears, a swishing tail, and shy, sparkling eyes, yet the first thing he wants to do is show them to me.

Zachary could not resist anymore. He held Jaden’s face and gave him a big kiss.

Jaden pressed his lips together, though the happiness in his eyes could not be hidden. “Sire, if you like them, you can touch them whenever you want.”

At that moment, Matthew returned from his morning run.

He walked toward them bare–chested, sunlight sliding over the sharp lines of his lean muscles.

With one hand, he pushed his wet hair back. Clear droplets rolled down from his temples, and his whole body carried the damp freshness of someone who had just washed.

Zachary’s need to show off was written all over his face. He pulled Jaden forward, unable to hide his excitement. “Matthew, look. Jaden can show his ears and tail now.”

Matthew gave a calm hum at first. Then he looked at Zachary’s bright expression and nodded again. “Very nice,”
