Chapter 263 Building Strong Ties with the Black Panther Tribe

Matthew tore through a few pieces of flatbread and went back for two or three more bowls of soup. Jaden ate with just as much enthusiasm from start to finish, especially when it came to the sweet, flavorful coconut chicken soup.
After the meal, the job of scrubbing pots and washing dishes fell to Matthew and Jaden. Zachary brought out several pieces of lightweight beast hide and started sketching designs for Matthew’s and Jaden’s warm- weather outfits.
As for the cotton–like fabric, he decided to make himself a pair of shorts first to get a feel for working with the material.
The moment he put them on, he realized his backside had suffered for nothing all this time. If he’d known fabric this comfortable existed, he would’ve made a trip to the merfolk tribe much sooner.
Still, Zachary didn’t get to wear them overnight. Matthew wasn’t used to it and spent half the evening coaxing and pestering him to take them off, insisting he wouldn’t be able to sleep otherwise.
Afraid Matthew might accidentally rip his high–quality underwear, Zachary reluctantly put them away.
A couple of days later, it was Matthew’s turn to head to the marketplace. To his annoyance, the White Tiger Tribe’s therians still hadn’t left.
The second Hubert spotted him, he immediately started scanning the area for Zachary. His gaze swept across the marketplace again and again, but Zachary was nowhere to be found.
Matthew’s expression darkened. He looked ready to toss Hubert straight into a firewood pile. He silently decided Zachary wouldn’t be setting foot near the marketplace for the next few days.
Horace had already become completely captivated by the Black Panther Tribe’s products. For the sake of the White Tiger Tribe’s future, he was determined to build a strong relationship with the Black Panther Tribe, and Hubert was the biggest potential obstacle.
That was why whenever Matthew showed up, Horace kept both his fists and his open hand ready. The second Hubert showed even the slightest sign of crossing a line, Horace was fully prepared to deal with him himself.
At that moment, Zachary was outside his cave with Quincy and Elias, mixing a large basin of yellow clay with salt and water.
Once everything was thoroughly combined, they took the cleaned, sun–dried duck eggs and rolled them through the mixture one by one until each shell was completely coated with mud.
After that, they carefully arranged the eggs inside a large jar and sealed it in a cool, shaded spot. In a little over a month, the salted duck eggs would be ready, their rich golden yolks glossy and packed with oil.
The tribe’s food surplus didn’t affect the cubs‘ hands–on lessons in the slightest. Jaden and Taylor had

returned to their daily routine of slinging on their little backpacks and heading off to class.

At noon, Zachary invited Quincy and Elias to stay for lunch. He made steamed sea bass, scrambled eggs with spinach, and wild berry ribs, all nutritious dishes that were easy on the appetite.
Elias had been hungry all the time lately. Every time a dish came off the stove, Quincy and Zachary would immediately scoop a small plate for him before serving anyone else.
As a result. Elias happily ate from beginning to end. His little belly had already been slightly round before, but now it looked even fuller.
When Kyle stopped by to pick him up after finishing his patrol, he found Elias sprawled lazily in a hammock strung between two trees. One leg dangled over the side while the hammock swayed gently back and forth. He was sleeping so soundly he didn’t even stir.
Meanwhile, Zachary and Quincy sat at the stone table beneath the trees, sewing clothes with bone needles in hand.
Kyle finished greeting them, then walked to the hammock and leaned down to pinch Elias‘ cheek, a smile in his eyes. “Elias, time to go home.”
Elias opened his eyes, still groggy for a couple of seconds. Kyle helped him sit up, and he asked, “You done with everything?”
Kyle nodded. “I’ll carry you down.”
“I’m fine. I’ll do it myself.” Elias grabbed his arm as he reached out. The moment his feet touched the ground, he suddenly let out a hiss.
Kyle tensed up instantly. “What’s wrong?”
Elias shook his head. “It’s nothing. I think he’s moving.”
“Really!” Kyle leaned in closer and felt again, then broke into a grin. “Maybe our cub is thinking about me.”
Elias said, “Then say it again.”
Kyle called out a few more times, but the cub in Elias‘ belly still didn’t respond. He was still grinning like an idiot, happily fixing Elias‘ clothes, then took his hand. “Let’s go home!”
His smile didn’t fade the whole way.
Recently, the weather had been good, and tribes arriving for exchange visits had been coming nonstop. After seeing the prosperity of the Black Panther Tribe, they tried to build long–term friendly relations with
Even several bold sub–therians had started setting their sights on the Black Panther Tribe’s therians.
Singles were fine, but someone like Yael, who had a happy family, practically wished he could hang a sign around his neck that read “has mate, has cub.”

Later, Yael even had Quincy come over to keep him company. But when Quincy ended up drawing even more attention than he did, Yael got even more anxious. He just started hauling things in the back or going on patrol around the tribe
Matthew was handsome, tall, and well–built, but in front of outsiders, his personality was too cold, so he didn’t run into many of those problems. His icy presence already put off most sub–therians before they even had the chance to speak.
At noon, once the temperature rose, some fruit tea felt really refreshing.
Zachary peeled a large pineapple and diced some mango. He mashed them with lemon slices to extract the juice. Then he added some honey, poured in the pre–brewed tea, stirred it evenly, and chilled it in cold spring water for a while.
Before heading out in the morning, the two cubs each packed a large cup. The bamboo tubes had a small opening and a stopper to prevent anything from spilling into their bags.
Taylor arrived at the destination and took a sip right away. It was sweet and tangy, very refreshing. This was different from plum–flavored fruit tea. It had a rich tropical fruit aroma.
