Chapter 301 I’ll Take Them All

When Matthew came over after finishing his work, he noticed Zachary sitting beside someone else’s stall, holding a lump of yellow, smelly fruit in his hands and eating it happily, his cheeks puffing slightly with

each bite.

He walked over, glanced at the therians across from him, then asked Zachary, “What are you eating?”

“Durian.” Zachary looked up, eyes slightly squinted, smiling brightly. “They call it thorn fruit.”

“It’s really good.” As he spoke, Zachary picked up a piece and held it out to Matthew. “Want some?”

Matthew quietly stepped back a little. For once, he refused Zachary’s offer. “I just ate. I’m a bit full.”

“Alright, then.” Zachary looked a little regretful.

The strong smell became even more noticeable, and Matthew’s expression seemed off. After hesitating, he couldn’t help but say, “Easy on those fruits. We’re having lunch soon.”

After finishing the last piece in his hand, Zachary stood up contentedly, holding up his sticky fingers with a smile. “I probably can’t eat lunch anymore. I think I’ve stuffed myself too much.”

Seeing that Zachary had finally stopped, Matthew felt slightly relieved. “It’s fine. We’ll eat when you’re hungry. Come on, let’s go wash your hands.”

“Wait a moment.” Zachary pointed at the pile of durians on the ground and said to the therians, “I’ll take all of these.”

The therians were stunned. “All of them?”

Zachary nodded. “Yes.”

Matthew stood to the side, hesitating. After much hesitation, he said warily, “Do we really need that many?”

“They don’t come by often,” Zachary said, recalling his life in the modern world and letting out a sigh. “Durian is really delicious, but it was too expensive where I lived. I couldn’t afford it before. I only bought a few after getting paid.”

Matthew’s brows furrowed almost imperceptibly. Then, he turned to the therians. “We’ll take all of them. Go ahead and choose what you want from the front. We’ll want this kind of fruit in the future too.”

“Alright!” The therians were overjoyed and quickly agreed.

Zachary didn’t think much of it, but the concern in Matthew’s eyes was obvious.

The durians were large, their hard, spiky shells prickly and heavy to carry. Matthew found a cart and loaded them all onto it, preparing to take them home.

When Yael, Daniel, and the others saw this, they came over curiously. But the moment they caught the smell, they immediately pinched their noses, showing an unusually strong rejection toward food for the first time. Even with Zachary’s approval, they still looked doubtful.

The durians were placed in the storage room. Before the door was shut, the little moo beast secretly took a few bites, only to get pricked by the spikes on the shell. Sticking out its tongue, it tried to headbutt the durian in retaliation.

In the afternoon, a large wave of people came to the market. The tribe was short on manpower, so Zachary followed Matthew to help. It wasn’t heavy work just arranging goods, restocking, watching the stall, and occasionally introducing products to customers.

The afternoon sun grew stronger, even a bit glaring. Zachary stayed under the tree, but Matthew moved back and forth carrying things, sweat forming on his forehead and temples. His clothes became damp, so he simply took them off, working bare–chested.

“We want to trade for some spices and clay pots.”

“We need woven baskets.”

“Do you still have soap and candles?”

Many people gathered at the stall, and Zachary became busy. From time to time, Matthew would come by with fruit tea or freshly made food–whenever he passed by a snack stall, he would casually bring something over.

By evening, the crowd gradually dispersed. Zachary lowered his head and began tidying up the stall.

Suddenly, several pointed shapes appeared in his line of sight. He looked up and saw many thick, long tails standing upright. They were silver–black in color, with white patterns intertwined across them. The scales reflected fine

Zachary’s tingled. In an instant, he scrambled backward, almost using both hands and feet, his expression no different from someone watching a horror movie alone at midnight.

“Can we still trade now?” The group of serpent therians moved closer. Their upper bodies were human, but from the lower abdomen down, their skin gradually transitioned into scales, ending in massive snake tails like those of tropical pythons.

Zachary let out a startled cry. How could something look so bizarre?

Gareth looked at him in confusion, not understanding why he was so afraid. The last time, he seemed pretty bold.

“You were right, Gareth–there’s plenty of good stuff here!”

“Exactly! I didn’t expect this!”

The companions who came along were extremely excited. Their tails swayed as they coiled near the stall, lowering their heads to pick through the goods.

“This is yours.” Gareth used the tip of his tail to lift the bowl that had fallen to the ground and handed it to Zachary. “We won’t hurt you.”

Zachary didn’t dare take it. Seeing those densely packed tails, he felt like growing wings and flying away,
