Chapter 97 Getting What He Wanted
They were in the middle of eating when Matthew’s cave door suddenly creaked.
Zachary looked up, following the sound.
Finished
Matthew stood there quietly, just watching his mate and cub. His expression was calm, almost painfully pitiful in a way that made it hard to look at him.
Zachary froze mid–bite, a fry stuck between chewing and swallowing.
For the love of God, I am not taking Jaden to eat alone! But this looks really bad.
Zachary and Jaden exchanged a look. The air between them turned a little awkward.
He blinked at Matthew, then forced a smile as he spoke. “You’re awake?”
“Went to twistgrass,” Matthew said.
The calmer he acted, the worse Zachary and Jaden felt.
Zachary’s guilt kicked in for no clear reason, and he quickly explained, “I was just hungry, so I got up to make something to eat. I figured you were sleeping, so I didn’t wake you.”
“Mm. You two eat.” Matthew stepped out of the cave, wandered around outside for a bit, then came back in.
When Zachary saw him return, he immediately got up and guided him over to the table a bit too eagerly. Then he pushed a large plate of fries in front of him. “They’re still warm. Try them.”
Matthew looked at him on purpose. “I’m allowed to eat this?”
“Of course!” Zachary said, even more guilty now. “Cold fries aren’t good. I was actually planning to make you fresh ones tomorrow.”
“Pretty good,” Matthew said after a few bites, then stopped. There wasn’t much left on the plate, and he was being considerate about it.
Zachary hesitate
“Not eating anymore?”
“Not that hungry.”
“Then… you should get some sleep?”
Mm.
Matthew was “sent back” to his cave once again.
It was already getting late. Zachary and Jaden finished what was left, washed up, and went

to bed.
He lay down on the warm beast–hide, holding Jaden close. Within minutes, his breathing evened out.

Chapter 97 Getting What He Wanted
The cave fell completely silent.
Finished
Matthew got out of bed. He quietly opened the door, and after making sure they were asleep, he walked over to Zachary’s bed.
He leaned down, clearly unhappy, and tried to pull the little black panther out of Zachary’s arms.
The black panther cub had just dozed off, but he was on edge. His eyes snapped open, locking/straight onto Matthew’s.
Jaden stared at him, confused.
Matthew raised a hand and signaled for silence.
Jaden tilted his head, clearly not getting it. It wasn’t until he got yanked straight out of Zachary’s arms that it finally clicked.
Alpha is here to steal Sire!
Matthew scooped Zachary up with ease and headed straight for the door.
Jaden tried to stop him. He quietly grabbed onto Zachary’s hand and pulled, putting in real effort.
I used to want a little brother so bad, but right now I just want to sleep with my soft, sweet–smelling Sire. A brother can wait.
The next second, Matthew shot him a strict, no–nonsense look, paired with a low warning. “You didn’t see anything.”
Jaden bared his sharp little teeth, still trying to put up one last fight.
Then Matthew kicked him straight onto the bed. The cub even flipped once before landing.
By the time the little furball scrambled back up, all that was left was Matthew’s retreating figure.
Matthew carried Zachary back to his cave, completely satisfied.
Jaden shifted back into his human form, head drooping as he let out a long sigh.
Alpha is so
earing!
Then he shuffled over to where Zachary had been lying.
It’s still warm… and it still smells like Sire. I’m upset, but I can only endu
the oppression.
Matthew was finally in a good mood. He set the soft, warm Zachary down on his bed and climbed in beside him, pulling the covers over both of them.
Zachary slept like the dead. Maybe he was dreaming about something delicious, because he smacked his lips a little.
Matthew stared at those pink lips, then leaned in and pressed his mouth against them. He wanted a taste of

those fries, slipping his tongue inside, prying past those white teeth as he messed around.
Too bad Zachary had brushed his teeth after eating. All that lingered was a faint woody scent.
Matthew wasn’t satisfied. He kept licking and nibbling until Zachary’s brows started to crease. Only then did he ease up a little. After a brief pause, he got restless again and went right back to it.
The cave was pitch black, and Zachary had no idea he’d been moved. Half–asleep, he felt the space in his arms empty out and instinctively reached for something.
Matthew took the chance and leaned into him.
Zachary’s hand found a soft, furry head. Out of habit, he pulled him close and gently stroked him.
Matthew buried his face in his chest. His body went rigid, and his heart was pounding wildly. Even his breathing was turning uneven.
He nuzzled in closer, tugged Zachary’s collar aside, and caught a soft patch of skin between his teeth, gently grinding down on it.
Zachary let out a soft hum.
Matthew paused, waited a moment, then continued.
Only when Zachary was on the verge of waking did Matthew reluctantly let go. His eyes lingered on that ripened “fruit,” and he licked his lips.
Zachary turned over. Matthew immediately wrapped himself around him, limbs and all, burying his face into the crook of his neck and taking a deep breath.
Finally… that hit the spot. Worth all the trouble.
He slept soundly through the rest of the night.
When Zachary woke up, he felt a weight pressing down on him, making it a little hard to breathe. He opened his eyes and saw Matthew sprawled over him, fast asleep.
He
on the spot.
