“We’ll go,” Eugene said simply, then turned and followed them out.

Snapping back to her senses, Rhea called after him, “Eugene, bring Chloe and the little one by when you have a chance. We should all have a proper family dinner.”
“We’ll see.”
Eugene gave a final wave without looking back and strode away.
Watching his retreating, resolute figure, Rhea sighed. “Once a son grows up, his heart belongs elsewhere.”
Hearing this, Hogan let out a heavy sigh of his own. He had a strong suspicion that if his son did end up with Chloe, he was destined to become utterly devoted–or as some might say, “henpecked“. It was a pattern in the Rosewood family.
Once a man in their family set his heart on a woman, he became relentless. If he failed to win her, he saw it as his own shortcoming. But if he succeeded, he was hers for life.
Recalling how easily the billion–dollar fund had ended up in his son’s hands today… The process had been rocky, but the result was the same. Gone.
Chloe had played the innocent so convincingly at first. Turns out, she was the real cunning one.
He’d been outmaneuvered by this young woman. He’d lost both money and face. His hard–saved “fun money“…
“Honey!”
Hearing his wife’s voice, Hogan replied absently, “What?”
“Honey!”
“What is it you want to say?” Hogan was still reminiscing about Robert’s sweet voice calling him Grandpa. He was imagining how wonderful it would be if the boy were truly his grandson.
Rhea had called him twice without stating her point. Annoyed, he finally turned to face her.
The next moment, Rhea stepped forward and grasped his hand.
“Honey, did you notice who that boy resembles?” Rhea looked at Hogan, her eyes suddenly sparkling.
“Resembles who? What boy?” Hogan was in a sour mood and wasn’t following.
“I mean that boy, the one with Chloe! The little one who just called us Grandpa and Grandma!” Rhea said with sudden intensity.
“Alright, I heard you. So? Who does he look like?” Hogan frowned and snorted. “The kid’s clever, I’ll give him that. Picking up Eugene’s sneaky ways already.”
“No, that’s not what I mean. I’m saying… Doesn’t that boy look exactly like someone?” Rhea insisted.

“Like who?”
“Like Eugene!” Rhe
stated seriously, her expression turning grave.

Hogan thought for a moment, his brow furrowed. “Like Eugene?”
“Yes, like Eugene when he was a child. Eugene looked just like him at that age. The resemblance is uncanny -nine–tenths at least,” Rhea explained. “I was too caught up in the moment earlier to see it, but now it’s all I can think about. That boy is the spitting image of a young Eugene.”
Hogan narrowed his eyes. “You’ve lost your mind. How could that boy look like Eugene? You’re just so desperate for a grandson you’re seeing things. That’s Chloe’s son. What does he have to do with Eugene? The only connection is that if they get together, the boy would be Eugene’s stepson. At most, he’d call him Dad.”
