Chapter 482 The Doctor’s Confession

Frank made his way through the crowd, cane tapping against the floor. He glanced first at Charles in the wheelchair, making sure the old man was alright, then his eyes found Chloe.
For just a moment, his expression softened. He gave her a faint nod before turning his attention to Jennifer. When he looked at her, any trace of warmth drained from his face, replaced by something cold and hard.
“Go on. Explain yourself. You took an oath–swore to do no harm. And this is how you honor it?”
As Frank finished speaking, one of the bodyguards shoved the bound doctor forward.
The man stumbled, hit the ground hard, and let out a pained groan. He blinked, trying to get his bearings -and the first thing he saw was Jennifer’s panicked face.
Recognition flickered in his eyes. He knew exactly why he was here. Scrambling to his knees, he tried to stand, but the bodyguards loomed over him.
“I’m sorry–I didn’t mean for any of this–let me explain, please-“The doctor’s voice broke as he dropped to his knees in front of the two men. “She offered me so much money, and I couldn’t say no. That’s the only reason I did it. I didn’t hurt anyone, I swear—I just changed her due date on the records. Moved it up by a month. That’s all. That’s everything. I’m a doctor–I’d never–I didn’t kill anyone-”
The bodyguards stood motionless, faces blank, letting him babble and beg.
Frank let out a cold laugh. His gaze stayed locked on Jennifer. “So, Jennifer. Want to tell everyone why you needed those records faked?”
[ennifer couldn’t speak. She just stared at him, disbelief written all over her face. Of all people, why did he have to show up now?
It was over. It was all over.
Jennifer. You’ve been lying to me this whole time, haven’t you?”
Her stomach dropped. Her legs gave out, and she sank to the floor. She opened her mouth, reaching for Arthur, but when she looked up at him, his eyes were empty. No warmth left. Nothing.
‘Arthur, please, it’s not what you think–just let me explain-” She crawled forward, fingers stretching toward him, but he stepped back. Just enough to stay out of reach.
“Blind and stupid,” Arthur muttered, more to himself than anyone else. “That’s what I am. You came after me from the start, and I walked right into it. Let you lead me around, mess up again and again–and now there’s no fixing any of it.”
Hearing the flatness in his voice, Jennifer knew. It was done. Everything she’d built was crumbling.
Carolyn had set her up. Back then, Carolyn had let it slip–just casually mentioned that Arthur couldn’t have kids. And Jennifer had walked right into it, weaponized it, and now it had blown up in her face.
Chloe was right. Carolyn had wanted to take them both out at once.

And she’d let that bitch win. All because of Chloe. Chloe had known the whole time and never said a word.
Perfect. Just perfect. Sitting back and watching it all play out.
“Chloc, this is all your fault. If anyone’s to blame, it’s you–for even existing!” Jennifer’s voice cracked as she shouted from the floor, despair clawing at her chest.
“Jennifer, you could’ve had everything. A comfortable life. All of it.” Chloe stepped closer, looking down at her. “Your greed is what did this.”
Jennifer looked up. Their eyes met.
And in that moment, something clicked. She saw it clearly now–the gap between them. Chloe’s gaze held nothing personal. No anger, no pity. Just the quiet certainty of someone who’d already won.
