My Rise and My Ex's Fall (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 5

Within moments, Chloe packed up and went downstairs with Robert.

They had packed only the essentials—items that truly belonged to them.

Anything purchased by Arthur or the Myers family was left untouched.

To Chloe, those things just sucked. Just like Arthur himself.

The housekeeper, Sarah Hyland, stared in disbelief at their luggage. "Mrs. Myers? Robert? What's all this?"

Chloe met her gaze briefly. "Sarah, please handle everything Robert and I left here."

"Of course, Mrs. Myers. I'll have it organized right away," Sarah replied promptly.

"Not organized, Sarah," Chloe corrected, her voice cold as she studied the housekeeper's earnest face.

"I want all traces of us gone from this house. It’s all trash anyway. Just toss it."

"Mrs. Myers, what's happened?" Sarah asked, her expression growing anxious.

"Sarah, I divorced Arthur. This house has nothing to do with us anymore. Take care of yourself. Bye." With those final words, Chloe picked up her bag, took Robert's hand, and walked out.

She had already arranged for a car. As they stepped outside, the sound of an idling engine confirmed the driver had arrived.

"Mrs. Myers... does Mr. Myers know you're leaving?" Sarah's voice followed them, but Chloe didn't look back. She simply walked out of Myers Manor for the last time.

Settling into the car, Chloe took a deep, cleansing breath.

It felt incredibly liberating to finally be rid of all that trash.

"Mommy, do you think that jerk is busy fawning over his precious darling right now?" Robert stared out the window and sighed dramatically. "And that Jenarth kid suddenly fainting? I bet it was all an act! Too bad some people have negative IQs—completely blind and clueless."

Chloe couldn't help but smile at her son's sharp tongue. "Trash belongs with trash. Let's hope they stay tangled up together forever!"

Arthur, this was your choice. May you always believe your precious darling is perfect.

What a joke!

When Arthur arrived at Starlight Hotel, a doctor was conducting a thorough examination of Jenarth. The boy, who had been unconscious, had just woken up and was speaking to the doctor in a weak, trembling voice.

"Doctor... am I going to die?" Jenarth's words were barely a whisper, shaky with tears yet bravely uttered.

"Jenarth, don't say that! You'll be fine. Nothing will happen to you. You're my precious baby, you have to stay with me. You'll be okay, you have to be okay." Jennifer knelt by the bedside, her face streaked with tears, her makeup ruined.

Arthur's heart clenched at the sight. He rushed to the bed, his eyes fixed on Jenarth.

"Jenarth, how are you feeling?"

Jenarth struggled to look up. The moment he saw Arthur, his eyes lit up. "Daddy Arthur! You came to see me!"
