Chapter 509 A Desperate Bargain

Jennifer downed the contents of the bowl in one go, even licking the last few drops from the rim like it was some kind of miracle cure she couldn’t get enough of.
After finishing it, she handed the bowl back and asked quietly, “When can I meet your boss?”
Seeing that she’d drunk it all, the two women just turned and left.
“Come with us. The boss will see you now.”
Jennifer hesitated for a second, then quickly hurried after them as they walked away.
This was some kind of compound built on a coastal island. Jennifer looked around, taking in the layout. After leaving the small room, she walked down a long corridor where guards patrolled back and forth. keeping watch.
They eventually stepped outside the building, and Jennifer got a clear view of the place. It looked like something out of the Middle Ages–a full–on castle. She stared up at the massive structure in front of her, completely awed. Where the hell was this place? How had she never seen or heard of anything like this before? How could a place this grand exist without anyone knowing about it?
Burning with questions, Jennifer stepped into the solemn, medieval–style castle.
She stole a glance at the guards by the entrance. Seeing they were armed, her heart instinctively tightened.
Once they reached some kind of sitting room, the two women who’d led her there left.
Jennifer stood there, wanting to ask where their boss was, but her voice seemed to fail her. She didn’t know what to say. A sense of dread crept into her chest. The place was majestic and breathtaking, yet it gave off an uneasy vibe.
“How do you find it?”
A voice came from behind her. Jennifer jumped and spun around to look toward the upper floor.
A figure dressed in white stood there, wearing flowing robes, with long, loose hair. At first glance, Jennifer thought it was some stunning woman, but she’d clearly heard a man’s voice.
She stared, kind of stunned. This person was… incredibly beautiful, with an androgynous look that made it hard to tell at first sight. As someone who’d been in the entertainment business, Jennifer knew perfectly well that with looks like that, this person would be a massive star if they were in Hollywood.
What was the deal with someone who looked like this? Was this person the boss of this castle?
“Who… are you?” Jennifer finally found her voice, stammering out the question.
The man smiled faintly and walked gracefully down the stairs. His steps were light, like he’d just stepped out of a painting.
Jennifer stood frozen, staring dumbly at him. He seemed so gentle. She found it hard to believe that someone like this, a man like this, could be in charge of this place.

The man took a seat, elegantly settling into a comfortable position. He looked Jennifer over from bear to toe and said calmly, “Your little games were pretty low–level. Losing was inevitable
Hearing this, Jennifer’s heart skipped a beat. She stared at him, a flicker of doubt crossing her mind. She suddenly remembered what Carolyn had once said–that there seemed to be some kind of force behind the scenes constantly messing with Chloe.
Could it be… These people were that force?
“Who the hell are you?” Jennifer took a nervous step back, eyeing the man on the sofa warily.
Noticing her movement, the man smiled, the corner of his mouth curling up. “Who I am isn’t important. What matters is that I can help you now. I can give you the wealth and status you want. I can even help you with… more.”
At those words, Jennifer’s heart clenched. She stared at him, weighing whether he was telling the truth.
