My Second Chance Mate is a Barbarian (Sera and Fenris) novel Chapter 156

Torin

"It's fine," Yvara said, waving her hand dismissively. "It was a night of free will. The Kael'drak doesn't judge a bitch in heat. I’m not going to spill anything to anyone about what happened out there. However... I can only speak for myself".

Irina frowned, her brow furrowing.

“What do you—”

She paused, a bead of sweat breaking out on her forehead.

"Is... is Sera aware?" Irina stuttered.

Yvara shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not."

Irina started to protest again, but Yvara cut her off.

"Your guards have been held in the lower barracks, Irina," Yvara stated flatly. "No one is coming to save you in this room. It was your own fault for sending them away so you could fuck this powdered idiot in peace".

Irina’s throat bubbled as she swallowed. "Are you threatening me?"

Yvara slowly shook her head. "I am just stating facts. We just need to be compliant with each other. Just play along, and everyone can leave this room happy. Including your naughty little man right here".

"What do you want?" Irina asked, her voice dropping to a whisper.

Yvara nodded in approval. "I want the Totem".

I saw the panic hit Irina's eyes for a fraction of a second. Then she gathered herself.

Yvara laughed loudly. It was a hacking, dry sound.

"He can try," Yvara said, her eyes gleaming. "What is it with you people and your threats? Always using Aldric. ‘Aldric this, Aldric that’ Are you expecting me to go on my knees and beg?".

Yvara looked dead into Irina’s eyes. The knife eased just a fraction on my neck, but I didn't dare move. I wasn't trying to die.

"Listen to me," Yvara said. "Even if Aldric marches here and levels this place to the ground... you will be dead. That action doesn't change anything. It doesn't bring you back to life".

Yvara laughed again. "No! Irina would be dead!" She stepped closer to the Queen. "Do you want me to kill you?"
