My Second Marriage with the Mafia Kingpin novel Chapter 146

Chapter 146: What A Refreshing Experience

Driving Primo to school had not been part of Lucian’s plans. He didn’t need to.

Primo was supposed to stay at the boarding school. But with everything that had changed, Lucian found himself thinking more deeply about what had been happening in their lives.

A normal life, huh? But it doesn’t feel normal at all. Though it was not unpleasant either.

The norm in Lucian was the world he knew, the one he grew up in. And it was nowhere near this kind.

The norm for him was the violence, the crimes that were happening left and right, the schemes, the endless dangers.

Meanwhile, Primo looked out the window, watching the cars heading in the same direction.

Why is he driving me to school? I’ve never seen him drive before. He wondered, staring at the vehicles.

Having grown up surrounded by luxury, he could easily recognize every model and brand. Most of the vehicles on the road were expensive. Though none of them would have made it into Lucian’s collection.

And among this parade of luxury... their car stood out like a sore thumb.

"Daddy, look at that car!" a child inside a nearby van pointed. "Is it a toy? It looks like something from a cartoon!"

The man driving glanced over and caught sight of Lucian’s car. "It’s probably one of those."

"One of those?" the child echoed, confused.

"Those kids who were given the chance to attend your school," the father replied with a faint smile, glancing at his son through the rearview mirror. "Stay away from them, okay? People like that tend to leech off others."

The boy blinked, then nodded. "Of course! I don’t like people like them!"

"Good boy," the man chuckled.

They weren’t the only ones who noticed the worn-out, cartoonish-looking car. Many people did. While most drivers didn’t pay much attention, they all understood what it meant.

After all, the school they were heading to was prestigious—meant for either geniuses... or the wealthy.

Which meant that soon enough, even these scholars would discover the hierarchy within its walls. And the drivers already felt sorry for the ones who got in this school without money.

Meanwhile, inside Lucian and Primo’s car, silence filled the space. Neither of them cared much for the luxury vehicles around them.

"Primo."

Primo’s thoughts halted at Lucian’s voice. He turned toward his father, only to see him focused on the road.

"Remember what she said," Lucian reminded him, overtaking the van carrying the father and son from earlier.

Soon, Lucian pulled into the drop-off area.

Primo nodded before unbuckling his seatbelt, picking up his belongings—including the lunch Ashley had prepared. Just as he stepped out, Lucian called him again.

"Primo."

Primo paused, tilting his head slightly.

Lucian hesitated for a brief moment before speaking. "Have fun."

"..." Primo pressed his lips together, meeting his father’s gaze seriously. Then he nodded and signed, [I’ll try.]
