My Second Marriage with the Mafia Kingpin novel Chapter 311

Chapter 311: Memphis

SLAP!

Marshal fumed as he ground his teeth, his eyes blazing with fury.

Before him stood Scott.

His head had snapped to the side from the blow, but he didn’t move an inch. He remained standing, refusing to retaliate despite the strike.

"You stupid fool!" Marshal huffed as he stormed away. "I told you before to drag her back if you must—"

Marshal cut himself off as he grabbed a vase from a nearby stand and hurled it directly at Scott.

The vase shattered against Scott’s head, and blood began trickling down the side of his face.

Even with the throbbing pain, Scott merely pulled the shard lodged near his forehead free. Then, he stood still again.

"I told you to drag her back no matter what!" Marshal roared, his anger reaching its peak. "Dominion is going to collapse, and getting her out of there is the best option for us!"

"But what did you do? Sent her a message?" He laughed bitterly, his face red as his shoulders rose and fell with heavy breaths. "I’m going to kill you!"

Filled with rage, Marshal grabbed another porcelain ornament and threw it across the room.

He had ordered Scott to drag Ashley out of Dominion.

Not because he cared about Ashley.

Marshal wanted Ashley gone because if she got caught in Dominion’s power struggle, there was a high chance the Di Carpios would be dragged into it as well.

The last thing he wanted was to become involved in that mess. Yet instead of carrying out the order, Scott had simply sent Ashley a message.

As if that would accomplish anything.

Especially with how stubborn and foolish Ashley could be.

"You—"

Growing angrier the more he thought about it, Marshal glared at Scott.

Scott remained calm despite the blood already staining the side of his collar.

"I apologize, sir," he replied evenly, head lowered. "However, it is impossible to force her back while Lucian De Luca is still alive."

Marshal gritted his teeth and grabbed another vase. "You’re still making excuses!"

He threw it.

The vase missed Scott by mere inches before shattering against the wall behind him.

"He’s dying!" Marshal thundered, nearly seeing red. "What can a dying man possibly do?"

"Give me your gun. I’m going to kill you with it." His breathing grew heavier. "Hand it over!"

Scott didn’t move. Not even an inch.

His complete lack of reaction only fueled Marshal’s rage further, sending the older man marching toward his desk. He yanked a pistol from the drawer and loaded it.

"You useless thing!" he growled. "I’m going to kill you today!"

Scott simply watched him. He neither stopped him nor tried to flee.

Then, three sharp knocks cut through the room.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Before anyone spoke, the door opened.

"It’s not like that." She clasped her hands behind her back. "Someone from Dominion is here to see you." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

A smug smile on his face.

"Who the hell are you?" Marshal narrowed his eyes.

The young man didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he glanced at Isabella and offered her a small nod. She pursed her lips and stepped aside.

"He’s from Dominion," she huffed, puffing her cheeks. "Specifically, from the High Chamber."

Marshal’s eyes narrowed further.

He knew the High Chamber well. Dominion liked to structure itself like a kingdom, and the people within the High Chamber were among the few who could openly oppose Lucian and walk away from it.

"Forgive me, where are my manners?" The man chuckled and straightened. "Don Marshal, allow me to introduce myself properly."

He placed a hand over his chest.

"My name is Memphis. I recently joined the High Chamber to replace my late father." He paused. "Just a few hours ago."

He smirked. "I’m here for several reasons. But first, let me reassure you that the High Chamber does not consider the Di Carpio family an enemy. If anything, we recognize that the Di Carpios are led by a remarkable man."

"Which is why I came today to offer you an alliance."

Deep lines settled on Marshal’s face as he studied him. The fact that Memphis had only just joined the High Chamber meant the balance of power had already begun to shift.

"I know you have an existing agreement with Lucian," Memphis continued. "But since he’s on the brink of death, I’m offering you a new one."

His smile widened. "Would you give me a few minutes to put it on the table?"

Silence stretched as the two men held each other’s gaze. Then the corners of Marshal’s mouth curled slowly upward.

"Of course," he said. "If it comes from the High Chamber, I’m willing to listen."
