My Second Marriage with the Mafia Kingpin novel Chapter 50

Chapter 50: Medicine

Everyone could only hold their breath, standing stiffly at the side of the room. All eyes were on Lucian, sensing the heavy aura emanating from the big boss of Dominion.

Lucian sat right beside Primo’s bed; his silence was more deafening than any internal scream echoing in everyone’s heads at that moment.

Primo, on the other hand, remained on the bed, staring at his father just as sternly.

"Primo." Finally, Lucian broke the prolonged silence, his voice low and commanding. "Drink your medicine."

From what the doctor had said, it was just a simple viral infection—manageable. However, Primo was making it difficult for everyone by refusing to take medicine or be cared for. No one could even get close to him as he threw a tantrum.

He wouldn’t even hydrate.

It was the reason Lucian had rushed back, as Nolan had no choice but to call the big boss. But even with Lucian present, Primo remained stubborn.

"Take this now," Lucian said, picking up the small cup. "If you want to get better, then you have to—"

SLAP!

Before Lucian could finish, Primo’s small hand shot out, knocking the cup away.

The moment everyone saw the young master’s action, their breaths hitched, eyes widening. But instead of feeling guilty, Primo simply glared at his father as if Lucian had wronged him.

As for Lucian, the air around him dropped. His eyes iced over, a layer of frost settling within them, clearly displeased by Primo’s stubbornness.

"What did I do to upset you?" Lucian asked, his voice cold and harsh. "Do you not want to get better?"

"..."

Primo pressed his lips into a thin line, lowering his head slightly before lifting his gaze again. He didn’t answer. He didn’t shake his head or nod—just stared back at Lucian.

For a moment longer, the father and son locked eyes.

The aura emanating from both of them was suffocating, as if they intended to smother everyone present without lifting a hand.

Nolan quietly glanced between the two before stepping forward.

"Young Master, I know the medicine doesn’t taste good," Nolan said gently. "However, you have to take it. You need it—and water as well."

But alas, the only response Nolan received was Primo grabbing the tray at the bedside and shoving everything off.

The glass shattered, the tray clanged, and the medicine spilled. The sounds overlapped, echoing sharply through the room.

Everyone gasped, while the child care team looked horrified and overwhelmed.

But Lucian remained unfazed, simply watching his son’s tantrum. Even without saying a word, Primo made one thing clear: he didn’t want the medicine, he didn’t intend to listen, and he rejected everything being forced on him.

"Will you be like this no matter what?" Lucian asked after another stretch of silence.

This time, he caught the brief flicker of hesitation in Primo’s eyes, but it vanished just as quickly. The boy met his father’s gaze without fear.

If one didn’t know better, they wouldn’t think Primo had a fever at all.

With how fiercely he resisted, it was hard to believe he was even sick. But at this point, everyone was used to it.

Although clearly, this was the first time Primo had held his ground against his father for this long.

He would usually give in... but with conditions.

"Fine," Lucian nodded slightly, resting his hands on the armrest before pushing himself up.

A glint flickered in his eyes as he turned to Nolan, about to give an order when suddenly...

"Huh?"

The frustration on Lucian’s face vanished instantly as he turned toward the source of the voice.

Not just him, but everyone in the room instinctively snapped their heads in the same direction.

At the doorway, peeking her head in, was Ashley.

Almost everyone’s expressions soured.

What is she doing here?

Can’t she pick a better time?

Is she really this clueless to walk in right now?

Why did she have to go here now? To cause trouble?
