Chapter 520: Take You For A Fool

Lucian felt relieved when his wife took the news better than he had expected. He hadn’t wanted to disappoint her, but at the same time, he knew it was necessary to tell her.

After everything that had happened, he realized there was no way he could stop his wife from doing what she was good at—what she had grown accustomed to doing. All he could do was minimize the danger and trust that his wife was also his partner.

With that, the two cuddled and rested until the plane landed.

Before they could leave, however, Ashley spoke.

"We have to tell Uncle Tom."

Lucian hesitated. "What if he believes the first result?"

Ashley looked up and hummed thoughtfully. When she returned her gaze to him, she smiled.

"I doubt it." Her smile widened until it revealed her teeth. "He might be retired, but after everything that has happened, I understand why someone would be interested in him."

Lucian smiled in defeat. "Whatever you say."

"Haha. Let’s go."

With that, Lucian reached out and took her hand, leading her out of the room and into the cabin.

Hours later...

"I see."

Tommy clasped his hands together as he sat inside a car with customized seats facing one another.

Lucian and Ashley occupied the seats across from him. Lucian carefully studied Tommy’s reaction to what they had revealed, preparing himself for whatever the man might say.

But then...

"Haha."

Tommy chuckled before looking up, his gaze settling on Ashley.

Ashley’s smile widened. Unlike her husband, she didn’t appear worried in the slightest.

"I think these people are taking you for a fool," she remarked.

"I certainly think they are." Tommy nodded in agreement. "How interesting."

Lucian’s brows drew together as his gaze shifted between his wife and Tommy, who seemed to share the same reaction. The DNA test between them had come back negative, and he had believed both Tommy and Ashley would take the result seriously.

Or, at the very least, that it would disappoint them.

Lucian released a quiet chuckle and shook his head. "I feel foolish for thinking this would disappoint either of you."

"Ashley and I were already family before any of this," Tommy remarked. "You, Primo, Ashley... and everyone in Dominion are already my family. As I said, a piece of paper isn’t going to convince me otherwise."

Just like Ashley, Tommy didn’t care much about the results. He would continue caring for her and her family exactly as he had before.

"But Uncle Tom, if our theory is correct, what do you think they want from you?" she asked curiously.

Tommy stared at her briefly, his mind lingering on how she had addressed him.

It would have been nice if she had called him something else.

But it was still too soon.

"There are plenty of possibilities," Tommy answered, gently rocking his head as he considered the long list of things others might want from him. "During my time, I met many people. I made friends and enemies. Some people owed me favors, while I owed favors to others. But that’s simply how trade works in the underworld."

He paused and turned toward the window, falling deep into thought.

"But if it’s true that a high-ranking member of Dominion infiltrated the High Chamber and produced a decoy to save himself, then I can think of only one reason they would go so far as to use Marshal’s daughter and claim she was mine."

Tommy slowly returned his gaze to Ashley, studying her intently.
