Chapter 8
Inside the envelope was a letter and an audio recording.
The letter contained the words I never got to finish.
As the Winslow heiress, I had dealt with more than enough kidnappings growing up.
For years, I had kept a miniature recorder on me:
Adrian played the file.
Sienna’s soft voice filled the room.
“Victor, once Audrey Winslow loses that baby, I can finally take her place. Then everything the Sterling family owns will belong to our child. Doesn’t that tempt you?”
The conspiracy went on.
By the time the recording ended, Adrian’s eyes were bloodshot.
Slowly, he turned to look at Sienna. “Want to explain?”
She swallowed.
But when she answered, her face was still composed. “Adrian, you don’t actually believe this, do
you?”
“Audrey made this to drive us apart. She doesn’t want us happy’
Adrian grabbed her by the neck, slammed her to the ground, and stared at her with a sinister
expression.
“Sienna Blake,” he said, “do you think I’m stupid? Whether the evidence is real or not, your
reaction already told me everything.”
She was trembling now, truly frightened.
But still she stubbornly rasped out, “I didn’t lie. The baby is yours.”
“Still not giving up?”
Adrian accidentally missed two calls, then called someone to have Sienna taken to the hospital for a
paternity test.
