My Stepbrother's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 139

Chapter 139

I wasn’t in a dream. I wasn’t at the club. I was in an office, pinned to a desk, with my hands bunched in the shirt of the man who shared a home with me. The man who sat at the dinner table. The man whose father had married my mother.

My stepbrother.

A violent shiver racked my body, but it wasn’t from pleasure this time. It was pure revulsion.

“Let go,” I choked out, my voice sounding like it belonged to a stranger.

Raphael’s smirk didn’t fade, but his eyes narrowed, his grip on my throat lingering for one heartbeat too long, What was that?”

“I said let go!”

I shoved at his chest with everything I had left. My heels scraped loudly against the desk as I scrambled backward nearly falling off the desk in my haste to get away from the heat of him.

I stood there, gasping for air, my hand flying to my neck where the ghost of his palm still burned. My lip was throbbing, the metallic taste of blood sharp on my tongue. I looked at the laptop, then at the files, and then back at the man standing in the shadows of the office.

The reality of what I had just done… what I had wanted… crashed down on me. I felt like I was going to throw up.

“Gianna-” he started, his voice regained that bored, icy edge, but I didn’t let him finish.

“Don’t,” I hissed, my voice shaking with a mix of rage and self-loathing, “I’m done. The work is finished. I’m leaving, Raphael. I quit.”
