My Stepbrother's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 166

Chapter 166

He walked away from the bar and sat down on the couch. He sank into the cushions and spread his long, powerful legs wide, the white towel slipping just a little lower on his hips.

“You think so?” he asked, he set his glass on the table and leaned back, “I’ve been looking for you. I’ve been looking for you for months: Do you have any idea how many clubs I’ve burned through trying to find a girl who moves like a dream?”

My blood went cold. My knees felt like they were going to turn into water.

“You don’t remember me?” he asked. He tilted his head, his gaze pinning me to the door. “The Gold Room. Two months ago. You were wearing black then. You didn’t stay long, but I don’t forget a body that moves like yours.”

I felt the room start to spin. He remembered that. He remembered our first meeting. He had been hunting me since that night in the Gold Room.

All this time, he had been carrying the memory of me under his skin.

He knew my movement. He knew the way I turned. And now, he had me locked in a room where there was nowhere left to hide.

Raphael leaned his head back against the couch, a slow smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.

“I spent weeks wondering if I’d actually seen you, or if the bourbon had finally started rotting my brain,” he rumbled, the glass clinking against his teeth as he took a slow swallow. “I went back the next night. And the night after that. I checked the books, the payroll, every inch of the security footage. Nothing. It was like you were a ghost I’d made up just to haunt myself.”

He let out a low, dark chuckle that felt like a serrated blade dragging over my skin.
