I looked at the photo. Most men would have felt a surge of heat but as I looked at her, all I saw was noise. She was trying so hard to be provocative, to be sexy, but she looked desperate.

I didn’t reply. I just hit the power button, letting the screen go black, and tossed the phone onto the bed.

Then a soft, hesitant knock echoed in my room. My eyes snapped instantly to the monitor on my desk. I flicked through the feed from the hidden cameras until the view of the hallway pulled up.

It was her. Gianna.

She was standing outside my door, looking small. She looked like she was trembling, her hands hugged herself as she stared at the dark wood of my door.

I walked to the door and pulled it open.

I wasn’t ready for what was on the other side.

Gianna stood there, wearing a black silk nightdress that looked like it had been poured onto her skin. The straps were nothing more than threads, showing off the pale slope of her shoulders. The hem hit her mid-thigh, leaving her long, bare legs exposed.

I felt a violent surge of heat hit me, a rush of blood that went straight south, turning my muscles to stone. I’d seen her a thousand times, but looking at her now, messy-haired, red-eyed, and wrapped in black satin, it felt… different.

She didn’t look up at first. She was staring at my bare chest, her fingers twisting into the silk at her sides.
