My Stepbrother's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 265

Chapter 265

Inside, I was already counting the reasons why I wanted her to have it. I thought about the phone she lost-the screen was cracked, the casing was worn, and it looked like it belonged in a museum.

I’d never heard her drop a single word about designer clothes, jewelry, or those mindless shopping trips Aunt Alessia and Claire were always obsessed with.

She didn’t own a single thing a Toricelli was supposed to have.

Looking at her, you’d never guess she grew up surrounded by a mountain of money, especially considering how easily she moved through her life now like she didn’t need any of it to know exactly who she was.

I didn’t want to give her a gift because she’d just throw it back in my face, but a salary? She couldn’t argue with a salary.

“I don’t do handouts,” I repeated, my gaze dropping back to her lips, “I do investments. And you, Gianna… I just made you a very important investment. Now, come here. Come closer.”

She rolled her eyes again, that defiant little spark in her gaze making my blood boil in the best way possible. She just sighed and walked over to me.

The second she was within reach. I reached out and yanked her closer, my hand catching her waist and pulling her body flush against mine. The contact was electric, a sudden heat that made the cold, blue light of the office feel like a furnace.

“I’ve never brought a woman in here, Gianna. Not one,” I rasped. My other hand came up, my thumb hooking under her chin to tilt her face up, forcing her to meet my gaze. “None of those men out there are even allowed past those doors.”

She let out a small, shaky gasp, her eyes wide as she searched mine, “Is that why they were staring? I thought they were just looking at me weirdly.”
