Chapter 353
He cut the engine. The loud rumbling died instantly, leaving the garage completely quiet except for the sound of our breathing.
But I didn’t move. I didn’t loosen my grip, and I didn’t slide off the metal tank. I just stayed right there, clinging to his chest like a child. We sat together in the garage for a few long moments, completely still in the dark. Then, I felt his bare hand move up to the back of my head. His fingers were surprisingly soft as he gently stroked my hair.
“Mess,” he murmured, “I know you were terrified out there. But you’re good now. We’re home.”
The simple words made something shift inside me. I sucked in a slow, shaky breath and finally, very slowly, began to pull my upper body back.
I leaned away just enough so I could look at his face. Looking at him right now, made my chest ache. It was a beautiful, overwhelming feeling that completely filled my soul. I didn’t care about the rules, I didn’t care about the danger, and I didn’t care if he didn’t love me back. I just needed to be closer to him.
I didn’t think about it. I just let my eyes drop to his mouth, and then I leaned forward.
I pressed my lips straight against his.
He went perfectly still for a fraction of a second, shocked by my sudden movement, but he didn’t push me away. I parted my lips slightly, deepening the kiss, and that was when I tasted it, the faint, icy sweetness of the blue slushie still lingering on his tongue. The artificial sugary taste mixed with the hot, raw warmth of his mouth, sending a shiver straight down my spine as I completely lost myself in him.
His hand moved from the back of my head down to the nape of my neck, his long fingers tangling in my hair to hold me there as he began to kiss me back.
He leaned into it, his mouth moving against mine. The soft, sweet taste of the blue slushie melted between us, turning into a hot, addictive fire that made me forget how to breathe. He pulled my body even closer against his chest, his grip on my waist so tight it almost hurt, but it only made me cling to his shoulders harder. I completely lost myself in the warmth of his mouth, floating in a world where only the two of us existed.
“Ahem.”
A loud throat-clearing noise cut through the quiet garage.
The beautiful bubble popped instantly. Raphael’s lips stopped moving against mine, his entire frame freezing solid. My heart did a violent flip in my chest, and a sudden wave of panic washed over me as the reality of where we were came rushing back.
We both pulled away slowly, our lips parting with a soft, quiet gasp for air. I was panting, my cheeks burning hot with bright red color as I turned my head over my shoulder to look toward the dark corner of the garage.
Standing a few yards away, right next to a sleek black sports car, was Adriano.
