Gianna noticed the shift in my face immediately. Her teasing expression softened slightly. I reached up slowly my hand sliding around the side of her neck. My thumb brushed lightly beneath the pink ribbon still tied there.

Gianna’s breath caught, her body stopped moving completely. Even upside down, she leaned into my touch without thinking. My fingers tightened slightly against her throat as I tilted her face closer to mine.

“So pretty,” I murmured softly.

Her lashes fluttered then slowly, I leaned in. Her breath mixed with mine first and then her lips touched mine. It was careful for half a second before Gianna kissed me back harder instantly, upside down in my hands while the ropes creaked softly above us.

A rough sound left my throat as I pulled her closer by the neck, deepening the kiss while she laughed breathlessly against my mouth from the awkward angle.

“Your blood is probably rushing to your head right now,” I murmured against her lips.

“You’re still kissing me shamelessly.”

“Yeah,” I said quietly, brushing my mouth against hers again, “because I’m clearly not very smart around you either.”

I pulled back just an inch, my thumb sliding over the pulse point on her neck. I reached into my pocket, my fingers finding the cold screen of my phone again. I hit the release button on the app once more.

The mechanism high up in the tree branch let out another click.

Gianna gasped as her body began to drop again. She descended inch by inch, sliding down. Her short black dress stayed bunched completely around her waist, leaving the bare skin of her stomach and thighs entirely exposed to the moonlight.

I stopped the rope with another tap.
