My Stepbrother's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 543

Chapter 543

Finally, he spoke, “If I asked you to get dressed and come with me right now…would you?”

For a second I just stared at him because normal people would ask where, normal people would ask why, normal people would ask questions, apparently I wasn’t normal because the answer left my mouth immediately.

“Yes.”

Something shifted in his expression, “That was irresponsible. You could have asked where.”

“I trust you.”

I looked down briefly before meeting his eyes again.

His thumb brushed against the pendant hanging between us, the tiny diamond caught the light, “If I told you to pack a bag for a week.”

My pulse jumped, “I would.”

“If I told you to get on my motorcycle.”

“I would.”

His eyes narrowed slightly, “If I told you to get on a plane.”

“I would.”

A small silence followed, then I laughed nervously.

Then he leaned back slightly, finally releasing the chain. The necklace dropped back against my chest. I almost missed the contact but Raphael looked entirely too pleased with himself.

I narrowed my eyes, “Stop that.”

“Stop what?”

“Looking smug.”

He shook his head with a low laugh, “Good.”

I frowned slightly, “Good what?”

His eyes held mine, “Good that the answer was yes,” he said and I blushed again. Then, after a long moment, he reached over and gripped my chin, “So,” he said quietly.

I somehow managed to breathe, “Yeah?”

One corner of his mouth lifted, “Go get dressed, ballerina.”

My stomach immediately dropped somewhere near my ankles, “Oh, okay. Wait.”

Raphael raised an eyebrow, “What?”

I suddenly became very aware that I was still sitting in pajamas, “What am I supposed to wear?”

He frowned like I had just asked him to solve a complicated math problem. For several seconds, he genuinely appeared to think about it then he looked at me, “What does a woman normally wear on a date?”

My brain completely stopped working.

A date.

Date.

The word echoed around my skull. I blinked, “A date?”

His expression remained calm, “Yes.”

“A date date?”

He stared at me, “I wasn’t aware there were multiple categories.”

My heart began trying to escape through my ribs, “Raphael.”

“Gianna.”

“We’re going on a date?”

The question sounded ridiculous the second it left my mouth because obviously we were but hearing him say it felt different.

Raphael leaned back, “I may not have extensive experience with this.”

I couldn’t believe those words were coming out of Raphael Capone’s mouth.

“But,” he continued, “I’m reasonably certain that taking you to dinner is the correct first step. Particularly before

I continue the conversation we were having over text.”

My entire soul left my body. My face became so hot it should’ve been medically concerning.

My knees to my tits…

Right.

Then I narrowed my eyes, “Just so we’re clear. I’m not the kind of girl who puts out on the first date.”

Raphael nodded once, “Understood.”

I narrowed my eyes suspiciously, “Understood?”

His gaze traveled slowly across my face before returning to my eyes, “It means I will have to put more effort into the date,” then he added, “I prefer earning things anyway.”
