Chapter 554
I stared at it, my mouth opening slightly.
Raphael tilted his head back against the couch. He took a slow swallow straight from the whiskey bottle, his throat moving as he gulped the liquor. He set the bottle down, his dark eyes locking onto mine with an intense, wicked focus.
“Recreate the first night we met,” he said, his voice dropping into a rough growl that made my thighs instantly press together, “Dance for me, ballerina. And this time, I don’t want it to stop at the dance.”
He reached for a small remote on the table and clicked a button.
Suddenly, a deep bass line filled the room, echoing from the speakers in the walls. The slow music started to pulse through the dimly lit space. My heart stopped, then gave a violent, frantic thud.
It was the exact same song.
The same beat that had been playing the night everything started.
The night a cold-eyed stranger had looked across a crowded room and changed the direction of my life.
The shyness that had been paralyzing me just a second ago suddenly melted. I felt a wicked spark flare up deep in my belly.
Looking at him sitting there made me want to show him exactly what he had been missing during all those months of restraint.
