Chapter 605
Adriano let out a laugh, he bent over, slapping his knee, his eyes bright with a dark, twisted amusement as he watched Cole flop around in the dirt.
“Oh, look at him go!” Adriano mocked, “He’s doing the dance! Look at the moves on him! Hey, Don Capone said he’d spare your life, Mercer! He didn’t say anything about your dick! You don’t need that thing to run a business anyway, right?”
“I said you’d live,” Vincenzo calmly lowered his pistol, “I never said you’d enjoy it.”
I stood perfectly still three feet away, my arms remaining locked securely around Gianna’s limp weight. I kept her head tucked firmly against my collarbone, my palm cupping the back of her neck to make sure the violent vibrations of the gunshots didn’t jar her injured skull.
My heart rate did not alter by a single beat as I watched Cole bleed and scream in the dirt. The destruction of his cock was a highly efficient message to the rest of the street.
I shifted my gaze away from Cole’s thrashing body and looked over at the far corner of the basement.
The girls-Gianna’s friends—were huddled together like a pack of frightened animals. Morgan was still sobbing, her jaw shaking as Alfonso slowly pulled the cold steel barrel of his gun out of her mouth. They were all staring at the pool of blood around Denise’s lifeless neck, and then at Cole screaming on the floor.
Their skin was completely white, their bodies shaking so hard their teeth were chattering in the cold air. They knew the Capone execution squad was still in the room, and their lives depended entirely on what we decided to do with the facts next.
Cole was still flopping on the concrete, his high, shrill screams turning into a wet, bubbly rattle as his body ran out of energy to fight the pain. The floor around his waist was a wide, dark lake of red.
“Alfonso,” I stated and Alfonso immediately stepped away from the trembling girls, turning his face toward me, ” Yes, Boss.”
“Take his right arm,” I ordered, “Cut it off at the elbow. He needs a permanent visual to remind him exactly who owns his life from this day forward. Every time he looks down at the empty sleeve, he will remember the Capone
name.”
“No! Please! No more!” Cole shrieked, his voice hitting a breaking point as he tried to drag his bloody body backward with his feet, “There has to be another way. I called you! I saved her!”
He looked from Vincenzo, to Adriano… to me.
