Chapter 612
“When it’s her,” I frowned slightly, “…something changes.”
“I noticed,” Vincenzo replied, “And I don’t care how long it takes. Fix it.”
“I will.”
“I don’t want promises.”
“You’ll have results.”
That seemed to satisfy him just a little.
Then another voice cut across the room. Dad scoffed, “Oh, Jesus Christ!”
Every head turned toward Salvatore. He had remained quiet for most of the meeting but maybe he couldn’t take it anymore.
“I’ve heard enough,” his eyes landed on me, “Whatever this… thing is between you and Gianna… it ends. You hear me? It ends tonight.”
I looked at him, nothing inside me moved, but he kept talking.
“If you don’t end it yourself… I’ll end it for you.”
Something snapped inside of my head, it wasn’t the blackout. It was something simpler, hotter.
I took one step toward him before I even realized I’d moved, “You’ll do what?”
Dad squared his shoulders, “I said-”
I cut him off, “I heard what you said but you don’t get to make decisions for me.”
“I am your father.”
“No,” I shook my head once, “You’re Salvatore. You stopped feeling like my father a long time ago.”
His face darkened, “You watch your mouth.”
“Why?” I laughed once, “You never watched yours.”
Claire quietly inhaled, “Raphael…”
I didn’t stop, “You don’t get to lecture me about who I love.”
The last word surprised even me but it was already out in front of everyone.
“You lost that right the day you took the only person who ever understood me. She was the only person who made this make sense,” I tapped two fingers lightly against my temple, “And you took her away. So, no, you’re not my father.”
