My Stepbrother's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 784

Chapter 784

“You were always going to inherit everything,” he said, “You and Gio Jr. Fifty-fifty. The Syndicate. The businesses. The territory. Every alliance and every piece of power I’ve built. And the organ trade.”

“You wanted me to run this.”

“Yes.”

I stared at him as if I were seeing a stranger, “After everything you did to me…”

Dad’s eyes hardened, “I wanted you prepared.”

“For what?”

“For the world I built.”

I shook my head, “You built a fucking nightmare.”

Leone rubbed a hand over his face, “Gianna, shut the fuck up. This world isn’t built on pretty lies and fucking fairy tales. It’s ugly. It’s cruel. And people like us survive because we understand that.”

He gave a bitter scoff.

“You know what? I liked you better when you couldn’t read half the shit in front of you. At least back then, your little brain wasn’t giving you enough confidence to run your fucking mouth.”

My hand moved before my mind could catch up. I grabbed the empty whiskey glass from the table and swung it with everything I had. The glass connected with the side of Leone’s head. The sound was sharp enough to cut through the room.

Leone staggered sideways..The empty glass slipped from my fingers and shattered across the floor.

Leone looked at me and his hand slowly went to the side of his head, “You fucking-”

I lunged for him again. He caught me before I could reach him. His arms locked around me, and he twisted us away from the broken glass. I fought like a wild animal, kicking, twisting, trying to tear myself out of his grip.

“Let me go!”

“Gianna, stop!”

“Get the fuck off me!”

He tightened his hold just enough to keep me from hurting myself on the glass.

“Calm down!”

I shoved against his arms, “You’re telling me to calm down after everything you’ve done?”

“You’re going to cut yourself.”

“I don’t fucking care!”

Leone forced me down onto the clear part of the floor, keeping my wrists pinned without crushing them.

“Gianna!”

I struggled until I couldn’t anymore, then I stared up at him, breathing hard and a smile spread across my face. A

cold, furious smile, “He is going to kill you. And if you think your precious little Council can stop them? They can’t. They’re going to come for you. And when they do, they’re going to tear this whole fucking place apart.”

Leone’s grip tightened for a second, “You stupid-”

“They’ll kill you all,” the words came out with a strange calmness now, “And when they do, I won’t be standing beside you. I will never be part of this. I would rather die than inherit this disgusting excuse for an empire.”

Leone stared at me for several seconds, then he let out a harsh laugh, “Oh, that’s what this is about? The Capones, huh? They can’t touch a single fucking hair on our heads. Wake the fuck up, Gianna!”

His voice dropped.

“The Capones don’t spend their days feeding poor children and saving kittens. The Capones are more powerful than us, richer than us. You understand what that means?”

I glared at him, refusing to answer.

“It means they have more enemies. More territory. More people trying to take what belongs to them. And people don’t build that kind of power by being nice. They’ve done fucked-up things too. Probably far more than we ever did. You don’t know them-”

“I know what they are,” I cut him off, “I know exactly what they are. I know they aren’t innocent. I know what the Capones do. I’ve seen enough to know better than that but there is a difference.”

Leone smiled, “Oh, a difference?”

“You hurt people who can’t fight back. Children. People who have no power. People who can’t walk into this room and put a gun to your head and tell you no. The Capones aren’t saints but they don’t need to choose children as their enemies. They choose people who can fight back. They go after enemies who know exactly what kind of world they’re stepping into.”

I shook my head.
