Chapter 263: Shen Wu Resort

Yao Ran and her team traveled for an entire day before she finally saw the broken sign for Shen Wu Resort in the distance.

As Long Yu drove past the resort's entrance gate, Yao Ran looked at the once-famous destination in Beifeng Province. The lake and rivers that were the resort's main attractions had dried up, and the greenery had disappeared, leaving only cracked soil and hot asphalt. Surveying the scene at Shen Wu Resort, Yao Ran frowned and said, "Judging by the soil condition, I don't think there will be any water sources here."

Hearing what she said, Long Yu calmly said, "Shen Wu Resort is situated on higher ground, with a lake and rivers flowing past it. Logically, this place should have more groundwater than areas closer to Juncheng City."

Since they knew nothing about the current situation, they stopped talking and observed the surroundings while Long Yu drove toward the residential area.

Shen Wu Resort had six residential zones, each separated by a river and featuring its own unique layout and design.

The residential area they headed to was where the villas were located. It included all essential facilities and a solar-powered electricity system. With the strong sunlight today, there would be more than enough power for their daily needs.

They arrived after driving for more than twenty minutes. Stepping out of the SUV, Yao Ran stayed vigilant.

She carried her backpack, long sword, and gun and then looked at the villa in front of them.

Long Yu took his gun and instructed Shi Xuan, "A Xuan, you stay here and guard the supplies. Jia Xiang, A Qian, you two come with me."

Jia Xiang and Huang Qian nodded, armed themselves, and followed Long Yu. While the four of them inspected the surroundings, Shi Xuan reviewed the residential area layout and arranged the others to protect the supplies. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Entering the villa, Yao Ran noticed that something was off. Apart from dried mud and water stains, the villa seemed as clean as it was before the natural disaster struck.

Yao Ran brushed her fingers along the wall and then rubbed them. When she found no dust on her fingertips, her eyes flickered. She glanced at Long Yu and the others and shook her head.

Seeing this, they raised their guns and cautiously checked the villa. After searching it thoroughly, they found no signs of humans or mutant animals.

Huang Qian looked at Long Yu and said, "Captain, there is nobody here."

Jia Xiang returned from the backyard, shaking her head, and said, "There is no one in the backyard either."

Yao Ran frowned when she heard this. She scanned the living room and said, "The walls and furniture are too clean. Someone must be living here."

Huang Qian examined the dried mud for a moment and asked, "If someone lives here, why wouldn't they clean up the mud?"

After a moment of thought, she put everything in the storage room into her space. Once she had cleared away the boxes and firewood, Yao Ran spotted a door on the floor. Her eyes lit up, and she pretended to search around the storage room before leaving to find Long Yu and the others.

Back in the living room, she found Long Yu, Jia Xiang, and Huang Qian. She motioned for them to remain silent and follow her.

Seeing this, Long Yu and the others understood that Yao Ran had likely found the entrance to the underground room. The three of them raised their guns and quickly followed her. Arriving at the storage room, Long Yu spotted the door on the floor. He stepped quietly inside and squatted down in front of it. Before opening the door, he exchanged looks with the others.

Yao Ran, Jia Xiang, and Huang Qian nodded, aiming their guns at the door. If anything came out when Long Yu opened it, they would be ready to attack.

After preparing themselves, Long Yu opened the door and quickly stepped back. As soon as the door opened, a fireball the size of a baby's fist shot out.

Boom!

As soon as the fireball shot out, everyone dodged to the side.

As it flew past her, Yao Ran could feel its scorching heat. Fortunately, they moved quickly enough. Otherwise, they would have been turned into crispy steaks by now.

Bang!
