Never Mistake a Queen for a Lapdog novel Chapter 882

As the head of the Quigley Group, Felix's presence here made perfect sense.

During the conference, Felix cast several glances in Noreen's direction, looking as if he had something to say but couldn't get the words out.

Noreen couldn't even be bothered to spare him a single glance.

She made it blatantly obvious that she wanted nothing to do with him.

If Felix had a shred of dignity, he would have taken the hint.

Unfortunately, he was exactly the type of person who couldn't read the room.

Back when Claire cared about him, he was entangled with Madeline and completely oblivious to his boundaries.

Now, he was ignoring everyone's blatant disgust for him, stubbornly forcing his way over to say hello.

"Ms. Gilmore," Felix called out, stopping her in her tracks.

Noreen had intended to pretend she hadn't heard him, but a business partner beside her helpfully pointed out that Mr. Quigley was calling her.

She was forced to turn around, flashing a tight, utterly fake smile. "What can I do for you, Mr. Quigley?"

"How is... she doing?"

"Who?" Noreen feigned ignorance.

"Claire."

"Oh, I thought you were asking about Madeline. After all, she's your precious little treasure."

Spending so much time with Claire had clearly rubbed off on her; she had mastered the art of sarcastic jabs.

And she had to admit, it felt fantastic.

The uglier Felix's expression became, the better she felt.

"I've already decided to send her abroad, and I've told Claire as much. I'm hoping you can talk some sense into Claire so we can go back to how we used to be."

His tone lacked its usual arrogant edge, yet the sheer audacity of his words still made her brow twitch in annoyance.

"Mr. Quigley, are you familiar with the phrase 'what's done cannot be undone'? If not, I highly suggest you go back to grade school and relearn the basics."

Wasting another breath on him was completely pointless.

Noreen turned on her heel and walked away.

After chatting with a few business acquaintances in the lobby, she walked outside just in time to see Madeline pulling up to pick Felix up.

Claire spent half an hour inspecting the treats with profound curiosity, wondering if there were diamonds baked inside to justify the exorbitant price tag.

Noreen tossed the auction catalog onto the table, telling her to pick out anything she liked.

Claire flipped through exactly one page before snapping it shut, shaking her head furiously. "Every single item in here costs more than my life! I can't afford this, absolutely not."

"With me here, since when do you have to pay? Take the pen, circle whatever catches your eye, and just bid when the time comes," Noreen said, shoving the catalog back into her hands.

"I really wish you were a man," Claire sighed dramatically.

While she was flipping through the pages, a heated argument broke out in the hallway outside their suite.

"I've been in VIP Suite 9 every single time I've come here. Why was I moved today?"

"Do you even know who I am?"

"Get your manager out here right now."

The woman's voice was sharp and overwhelmingly entitled.

"Who is that?" Claire asked curiously. "She sounds like she thinks she owns the place."

Noreen recognized the voice instantly.
