No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 101

Claudia opened the door.

The moment she saw York, her hand twitched with the impulse to slam it shut.

But York was faster. Just as the door was closing, he pushed his way into the room.

The couple, who hadn't seen each other in a week, stood staring at one another.

York's intense gaze made Claudia's skin crawl. "What are you doing here?" she asked, her face a cold mask.

She had already signed the divorce papers she'd left for him. The billion dollars had been deposited into her account. Ann was surely eager to step into her role and would have given him everything.

There was absolutely no reason for them to see each other again, except to get the final decree.

York gave the single-room apartment a quick, dismissive glance.

He walked over to Claudia, pulling a diamond necklace from his pocket. "A gift from my business trip. Here, let me put it on you."

Claudia threw up an arm to block him and took a step back.

"York," she said, her voice flat. "We've been married for three years. It's come to this. You can drop the act."

York's brow furrowed slightly. He bent down and placed the necklace on the coffee table.

When he spoke, his deep voice was laced with exhaustion. "Claudia, it's not what you think between Ann and me."

York's lips moved, but he said nothing.

Claudia fought back tears. "York, for the sake of the twenty-plus years I've loved you, can we please just part on good terms?"

York walked heavily toward her and tentatively reached for her hand. She flinched away as if his touch were repulsive.

His outstretched hand fell limply to his side. He looked into her eyes. "Claudia, I know you've got the wrong idea about me. I also know you don't like Ann James and her son. I've already had them move out of our home. From now on, I'll do my best to keep my distance from them so you won't have to worry."

He paused, then reached for her again. "Claudia, stop being dramatic. Come home with me."

Claudia shook his hand off, her voice firm. "Love and the lack of it are in the details. I've seen your love for Ann James and her son. You said yourself that you have to be responsible for them, and that they can bring you happiness. The best ending for everyone is for us to divorce. Then you, her, and your child can be together as a family."
