No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 37

When Claudia woke up the next morning, York was already gone.

She quickly got ready and headed to the hospital for work.

By throwing herself into her job and interacting with colleagues, she found the pain wasn't as sharp.

That evening, as she was leaving, she unexpectedly ran into Gideon Harvest, the senior colleague Dr. Moore had introduced her to.

"Hi, Gideon," she said with a polite nod.

He was dressed in a smart, casual style, with gold-rimmed, frameless glasses perched on his nose. He was handsome, with a gentle and courteous demeanor. "I heard you live on Lotus Avenue. I'm actually heading that way for an errand. Need a lift?"

Claudia quickly waved her hands. "Thanks, Gideon, but I drove."

Gideon was the man Dr. Moore had wanted her to meet—the youngest medical doctor in the Empire.

She'd heard the Harvest family was a medical dynasty with private hospitals in every country, and that Gideon, despite his youth, was heir to a billion-dollar fortune.

As Claudia walked out of the main clinic building, she saw York.

Just thinking about how concerned he looked last night, and that it was all for Ann, made her heart ache all over again.

He was here for Ann, of course.

A heavy feeling settled in her chest as she walked past him, maintaining a dignified composure.

Her threats last night about divorce and taking him down were just words spoken in the heat of the moment. Even if she didn't care about herself, she had to think of her parents and her younger brother.

York had her backed into a corner, and she knew it. All she could do was have these breakdowns when no one else was around.

York watched her walk past, then fell into step beside her without a word.

He took her wrist, pulling her to his side.

"Claudia," he said, "a fight is a fight. But don't forget you're still my wife."

Claudia was furious that he had made plans without her, but the thought of her parents waiting for them made her relent. She didn't refuse again.

As they walked, she noticed passersby staring at them with envious eyes.

He cut a striking figure in his all-black business suit, handsome and exuding an air of nobility that made him the center of attention wherever he went.

Her entire life had revolved around him, as if he were her sun. She was used to those envious glances.

Before, they had filled her with pride.

Now, she just felt numb.

"York, you really don't have to bring so many things when you come over for dinner."

Jessica stared at the luxury goods that filled half the living room, at a loss for what to do.

After the driver brought in the last two cases of wine and left, York finally spoke. "Mom, you and Dad should really move back. It's too far from the city center here. Now that Claudia's working, it's not convenient for her to visit often."
