No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 488

She had entrusted her time, her energy, her entire future to him. But not a single one of her dreams had come true.

When he was busy with work, he often ignored her calls. He would see the silly emojis she sent and choose to ignore them. The only time he ever gave her roses was on their wedding day, and even then, Peter and his sister had prepared them for him. He hadn't been able to save their child. He had even abandoned her for a month for another woman.

...

Numbly, York walked step by step until he was beside Claudia. He couldn't stop himself from wrapping his arms around her from behind.

Her body tensed, and she immediately began to struggle.

York held her tighter, refusing to let go. His voice was muffled and filled with endless pain. “Claudia,” he said, “I wish we could go back.”

Her voice was colder than the water at their feet. “Don’t fool yourself, York.”

They could never go back.

Never.

Taking advantage of his momentary lapse, Claudia broke free. York grabbed her hands, his emotions starting to crumble. His throat bobbed uncontrollably as he spoke, his tone cautious and pleading.

Looking into her eyes, which were now red-rimmed, he said, “I know I made an unforgivable mistake during our marriage. I wasn’t true to my heart, and I broke the vows I made to you at our wedding.”

York continued, “Claudia, what if I get a new heart? Can we start over then?”

Claudia asked him with a blank expression, “If you got a new heart, would you still be you?”

He didn't even realize he had finally said the word 'love' to her. He carefully took her hand, humbling himself completely. “Claudia, I’ll go crazy without you!”

Claudia just shook her head, not taking his words to heart at all. “No, you won’t, York.”

York was a businessman who always put his interests first. He was always calm, always calculating, always weighing the pros and cons. He would never lose his composure over a woman he didn't care about.

They stared at each other in silence. A sharp, twisting pain shot through York’s chest, so intense that his body swayed, and he looked like he was about to collapse.

Ignoring his agony, Claudia pulled her hand free and turned away.

There was a loud splash behind her as York’s body fell straight into the water.
