No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 500

When Wendy entered with an insulated container, she saw York fumbling to open a pill bottle.

York turned and saw her, then discreetly slipped the painkillers into his pocket.

"Don't hide them. I saw everything."

Hurt in her eyes, Wendy helped York to the sofa to rest.

She ladled out the nourishing broth she had brought and personally supervised him as he ate.

York stirred the broth in his bowl and asked, "Mom, did you happen to talk with Marcia when you came up?"

"I have a mountain of things to deal with at home. I don't have time to chat with her," Wendy replied, then paused. "Why do you ask?"

York shook his head. "No reason, just asking."

Wendy stared at her son for a long time.

"Have you come around?" she asked. "Are you willing to get engaged to her?"

York shook his head and put down his spoon.

"Mom, I'm not going to get engaged to her," he said.

Wendy picked up the bowl and handed it back to him.

"I know you've already made your decision," she said. "You took Claudia away without a word and brought her back safe and sound. Whether it was by choice or not, you've made your decision, so don't dwell on it. Just focus on getting better. Everything will slowly be okay."

York's hand, holding the bowl, tightened unconsciously.

He had lost the woman who loved him most.

His marriage was over.

His home was gone.

Slumped on the sofa, his shoulders heavy, York lowered his head and managed a quiet, "Mm."

Wendy rose, her face etched with exhaustion. "Your sister was forced to meet with Kevin Shaw, the third son of the Shaw family, today. I have no idea how it went. I need to go home and check on her."

York walked Wendy to the door. "Mom, Kevin Shaw isn't right for Darleen."

Wendy sighed, equally troubled. "Your grandfather and father insisted, and your sister only agreed because she was pushed into a corner. She's most likely just going through the motions."

At six in the evening, Claudia parked her car in front of a shopping center downtown.

Just as she was about to head inside to buy a few things, Peter appeared out of nowhere, grabbing her and dragging her into a high-end restaurant next door.

As soon as she entered, Claudia spotted Darleen.

Peter put a finger to his lips, signaling for her to be quiet, and led her to the booth directly behind Darleen's.
