No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 537

Claudia waited, but York never showed up for the appointed time.

When she stepped out of her office, she noticed a slip of paper on the floor. Picking it up, she saw York's name.

With a complex expression, Claudia stood at her office door, glancing down both ends of the empty hallway before turning back inside.

She didn't call Wendy again, and York didn't try to see her.

Two days later, Mayes was cremated and buried without any notice to the public.

Afterward, York and Cyrus paid a visit to the Shaw family, offering compensation and making sure all public appearances were properly managed.

On Thanksgiving Day.

Claudia was having dinner with her parents, her brother, and Rock Sayer at a restaurant when they ran into the Fergusons right outside their private room.

The two families stood facing each other in the hallway, a few steps apart.

Claudia, ever graceful, greeted Wendy first before ushering her family into their room.

Darleen glanced worriedly at York, noticing his dazed eyes were fixed on Claudia.

She whispered, "York, this is our room."

York snapped back to reality without a change in expression and pushed the door open to their room.

Once everyone was inside, Darleen remained at the doorway for a moment.

Her family's private room was right next to Claudia's.

While waiting for their food, Rock Sayer leaned in and asked Claudia, "Claudia, your birthday's coming up. Tell me what you want, and I'll get it for you ahead of time."

Claudia looked at Rock Sayer's handsome, mixed-race face and teased, "Why don't you find yourself a girlfriend and bring her along on my birthday?"

Rock Sayer turned to Jessica. "Mrs. Watkins, how about you introduce me to someone?"

Jessica quickly waved her hands. "The girls I know are from ordinary families. They wouldn't be a match for Master Sayer's status."

Eddy puffed out his chest. "Don't worry, Rock. I'll find one for you when I get back to school."

Rock Sayer scoffed. "Girlfriend is not a blow-up doll! You can't just 'get' one for me!"

His comment sent a wave of laughter through the room.

They looked at each other.

"Yes," Claudia said firmly.

York's eyes began to burn, and he subtly turned to look out the window.

"Then forget it," he said. "I'm not sick."

Claudia couldn't help but frown at this version of York.

Her expression turned serious. "You haven't changed at all. You're still so selfish and manipulative. A person like you... even if the whole world fell apart, you'd still be fine."

York ignored the dull ache deep in his heart.

He turned back to face her. "You're right about everything. I'm just that rotten of a person. It's not the first time you've realized that."

Claudia strode up to him, furious. "You really are a bastard, a total piece of trash!"

"Your sister nearly ended her friendship with me because of you. Your mother has grown thin and haggard with worry, even stooping to beg me. Your father was willing to kneel just to get me to talk some sense into you. And your grandfather was ready to hand over fifteen percent of the Ferguson Group just to get me back by your side."
