No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 547

Claudia silently opened the closet and began to carefully select one last suit for York.

Her back was to Peter, and she didn't say a word.

She admitted that her current coldness and resolve seemed almost inhuman.

But she hadn't always been this way.

Both Claudia and York were Scorpios.

They shared a fatal similarity.

When they loved, they loved deeply. When they were cruel, they were utterly unforgiving.

Claudia chose a relatively formal business suit for York and tidied it carefully.

Peter tried to console her. "Not forgiving him is your choice. No one has the right to blame you. You shouldn't feel any guilt about it."

Claudia nodded, her expression unreadable.

The two returned to the Ferguson Estate, where no one was resting.

Everyone was waiting for the final farewell ceremony the next morning.

Peter reminded Claudia, "When a body is taken out of cold storage, the facial features will inevitably be distorted. Aunt Wendy won't be able to handle seeing that. You should go talk to her, try to convince her not to go to the site."

"I'm not going to the ceremony tomorrow either," Claudia said. "I'll stay here and keep Aunt Wendy company. Call me after the cremation, and I'll take her to the cemetery."

At the door to Wendy's room, Rock was preparing to leave. "Eddy has a flight tomorrow morning. I'm going back to see him off."

Claudia reached out and zipped up Rock's jacket. "Thank you, Mr. Sayer."

Rock shot her a look. "I already said I'm like a little brother to you. Nothing to thank me for. I'm off."

After Rock left, Claudia went to the kitchen.

She made some nourishing soup to help restore strength and blood, coaxed Wendy into eating a few bites, then brought a small bowl over to Darleen.

After Claudia left, Darleen broke down sobbing. "If my brother's spirit is watching, she's the one person he'd want to see most."

Peter pulled Darleen down to sit, bending over to help her change into slippers so she could rest her feet.

Darleen grabbed Peter's arm, crying so hard she could barely breathe.

"Peter, you know my brother… he had a bad temper, just like my grandpa and my dad."

"Growing up, he threatened me countless times," Darleen said. "He was always about to freeze my cards, cut my allowance, or send me abroad. But he was just bluffing, just trying to scare me. I know he loved me."

Darleen's emotions shattered once more. "My brother was the same with me as he was with Claudia. He made a mistake, but all the tactics he used against her were just to scare her. He never truly meant to go through with them."

"I understand why Claudia won't come back to him," she said. "But why? My brother is already dead. Why won't she even see him one last time?"

Peter wrapped his arms around Darleen, supporting her.

"Darleen," he said gently, "Claudia and your brother were already strangers. Her coming here is about her feelings for you and Aunt Wendy. It has nothing to do with him."
