No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 555

On the side of the road late at night, Claudia stood on the curb while York stood on the street below, facing her.

York's probing tone was obvious, and Claudia's eyes slowly grew wary.

She shot back, "Have you done something to hurt me?"

They locked eyes, each searching for answers in the other's gaze.

York's tense heart relaxed slightly. He had been overthinking it. If Claudia had truly been reborn, she would have warned him to stay away, told him they had no future in this lifetime, and cut ties with him completely. She wouldn't have just walked away without a word while they were at city hall taking their wedding photos.

York stared at Claudia, his eyes flickering with uncertainty. He couldn't let her know he had been reborn and retained memories of their past life. If she were to ask, he wouldn't know how to explain. If he confessed his past to her, he would lose any chance he had left.

He couldn't tell her.

York hesitated before explaining, "You left without a word when we were taking our pictures. I must have done something to make you that angry, which is why I asked."

Claudia scrutinized the man before her. His expression was cool, his eyes lowered, making it impossible to guess what he was thinking. She must be over-sensitive. Given York's personality, if he had also been reborn with memories of their last life, he wouldn't be speaking to her so calmly.

Claudia lifted her chin slightly, her face cold as she explained, "I just graduated from college this year. I'm still young. Besides, your grandfather and father have always looked down on me, thinking I'm not good enough for you. I have no desire to live my life according to their whims."

York's tense body visibly relaxed. So that was it.

Still shaken, Claudia tried to struggle free, but York held her霸道地, refusing to let go.

As they grappled, York's muffled voice sounded in her ear. "You promised you'd marry me. You even set the date for the registration. You're not allowed to back out!"

She wrestled against him but couldn't break free, breaking into a light sweat from the effort. Planting her hands against his chest, she said dismissively, "If you want to hear the truth, then let me go first."

York cautiously loosened his hold, but didn't release her completely.

Claudia took a deep breath. She enunciated each word clearly. "York, the reason I'm suddenly calling off the wedding is because I realized that my feelings for you… they aren't what I thought they were."
