No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 557

Claudia shoved York away, quickly straightened her clothes, and hurried back onto the main sidewalk.

If she stayed any longer, she’d fall right into his trap.

With a look of defiance, she said, “York, I see you as a brother, but you want to sleep with me. Do you want to see me put you on blast all over the internet?”

Claudia’s blunt reversal left York at a loss.

This was the real her.

She did whatever she wanted, a little bold, a little dramatic.

But he knew if he wasn’t more proactive and passionate, this wedding would fall apart sooner or later.

Claudia ticked off the reasons on her fingers. “They say a fish rots from the head down, and none of the men in the Ferguson family are any good. Your grandfather is old and ruthless, obsessed with profits. Your father is arrogant and has always looked down on our family.”

York remained silent.

“Since we were kids, I’ve been the one chasing you, and you always looked like you were being tortured, putting up with it reluctantly,” Claudia continued.

York still said nothing.

“You’ve never said you like me or love me. There wasn’t even a proposal. The truth is, you don’t really want to marry me,” she said.

York started to speak, but hesitated. “Claudia, I—”

“I’ve thought it through, too,” she cut him off. “Let’s not make things difficult for each other. We can just go our separate ways. If you really want to get married, find someone else. If you can’t, I’ll even help you find someone.”

Calculating the time, Ann James’s child would be over two years old by now.

If it came down to it, she would personally go to Caledon and bring his one true love back for him.

York’s face darkened severely.

He stared at Claudia, his voice firm and unwavering. “I only want you!”

Claudia waved her hands dismissively. “York, I’ve made myself clear. If I have to, I’ll go to everyone we know, one by one, and clarify our relationship myself. You should go home and talk to your parents, see if they still want a daughter. I’ll be waiting for your good news.”

Peter turned to coax her. “This is grown-up talk, not for kids to hear.”

After settling Darleen in the car with headphones and a game, Peter rejoined York on the sidewalk.

“Claudia would do anything for you. How did you manage to make her so angry she’s even talking about calling off the wedding?” Peter asked, curious.

York shoved his hands into his suit pockets, his gaze fixed on the tree in the distance. “She’s angry that I wasn’t sincere enough, that I didn’t propose, and she dislikes my grandfather and my father’s personalities.”

And, of course, she disliked him too.

Peter let out a sigh of relief. “See? I told you girls need to be coddled and spoiled. You’re always giving her that sour face. She probably just couldn’t take it anymore, right?”

York discreetly pulled his gaze away.

He would love her properly, spoil her properly, and coax her properly.

This time, it would be his turn to take the lead.
