No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 601

York whispered something in Claudia’s ear.

Claudia tore herself from his grasp and slapped him across the face.

In the deserted wilderness late at night, the crisp sound of the slap was exceptionally clear and loud.

Claudia’s eyes shot York a warning. “If you dare do that, I’ll hate you for the rest of my life!”

The coldness in her gaze intensified, making York’s own eyes flicker with panic.

He clumsily raised his hands and clasped hers.

His voice was gentle, cautious. “Claudia, I’m your York. Trust me, I can make you happy!”

Claudia shook his hands off, the words tumbling out. “York, after everything you did to hurt me, how can you expect me to trust you?!”

As her words fell, the world around them went silent.

Time seemed to freeze in that moment.

Even the air grew still.

They stood just a step apart.

York froze, as if his soul had been ripped from his body, momentarily forgetting how to react.

Claudia took a few quick breaths, slowly calming herself down.

York’s hands, hanging by his sides, clenched into tight fists, then slowly relaxed, then clenched again, then relaxed.

He stood before her, conflicted and lost for a long moment.

Then, he said, word by word, “So you finally admit it.”

Claudia’s expression slowly turned to ice. “And you finally admit that you remember everything.”

They stared at each other in silence.

York felt as though the oxygen had been instantly sucked from his lungs.

He clutched the fabric over his chest in agony, gasping for air.

His body swayed violently, and he staggered back several steps before managing to steady himself.

She looked at York. “Am I that pathetic in your eyes?”

They stared at each other.

York stood before her, utterly helpless, not knowing what to do with her.

His eyes were terrifyingly red, and he opened his mouth but couldn't force a single word out.

Seeing his helpless, lost, and tormented expression, Claudia walked to the side of the road, her gaze fixed on the empty distance.

She said to him, “York, I don’t want to bring up the grievances of our last life, and I don’t want to be too entangled with you in this one.”

For the sake of those around them, she didn’t want to be enemies with him either.

“In our last life,” Claudia continued, “the day after you died, your grandfather couldn’t handle the shock and killed himself with sleeping pills. Your parents were devastated and never recovered. The entire Ferguson family was held up by Darleen alone, and thank God Peter was there for her day and night.”

“You know exactly what you mean to the Ferguson family and the Ferguson Group. In this life, I hope all of us can live well.”

“I don’t want to talk about the past or who owes what,” Claudia said. “I just want to live the life I want, on my own terms.”
