No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 604

A pink diamond ring, the very one York had proposed with on that island in their last life.

Claudia sat quietly on the edge of her bed, staring at the three items before her.

Her mother’s jadeite set had already been sold at auction; York had bought it back at a high price. She couldn't keep it.

The diamond necklace was a clear declaration of romantic love. She couldn't accept it.

And this priceless pink diamond ring—she certainly couldn't accept that.

Even though she and York had cleared the air tonight and reached an understanding, she couldn't keep any of these things.

She would have to find a time to return them to him.

The wounds he had inflicted on her were still part of her memory, a part of her life. A broken mirror cannot be made whole again.

She and York were fated never to go back to how they were.

But in her heart, she would try her best to see him as she did Peter Louis, as a brother.

By forgiving him, she would also be freeing herself.

She was determined to live this life well, and she hoped he could live his peacefully, too.

With the matter that had been weighing on her heart finally resolved, Claudia felt a great sense of relief and slept soundly.

Around four in the morning, York returned to Blue Bay.

He found Peter standing guard at his door like a statue.

Seeing York, Peter snapped to attention. “How come you’re alone? Where’s Claudia? Did it fall apart? Did she reject you again?”

York shot Peter a death glare.

Peter fell silent.

York opened the door, went inside, and shut it in Peter’s face.

Standing in the entryway, York leaned wearily against the shoe cabinet, motionless for a long while.

His gaze fell on the empty space on the shoe rack.

In their last life, when he and Claudia lived here, this rack had been filled with her shoes.

He was angry, but he couldn’t cut them out of his life.

York unbuttoned his suit jacket and sat down across from his parents.

As soon as he sat, his father, Sewell Ferguson, spoke. “Your grandfather has already signed over his shares to you. When are you coming back to the company?”

“No rush,” York said. “We can talk after the paperwork is processed.”

In this life, he would live well for his family, so they could grow old with security.

But he would still do what needed to be done. He would not tolerate certain things.

He would also remain at the pinnacle of Capital City's elite, silently watching over her, protecting her, and letting her find her happiness in her own way.

Even if her happiness had nothing to do with him.

Wendy stood up and walked over to him, demanding, “Didn’t you say you were done with Ann? Why did she show up at your and Claudia’s birthday party?”

York’s expression darkened. He stood up and explained, “Mom, I’m already having that investigated.”

Old Mr. Ferguson’s voice was sharp as he questioned York. “Wasn’t it you who brought that woman back to the country?!”
