Cedric turned to Magnus and calmly said, "If you want revenge, there's something I can have you do."
"What is it?" Magnus hopped onto his feet and looked at Cedric with a determined gaze. "If I keep sitting around like this, I'll go crazy."
Cedric instructed, "Since you've been following Alfred these past few months, you've learned a lot. Now, it's time to use that knowledge. I want you to take down Merlock Corporation."
Alfred chimed in, "The Merlock family was already teetering on the edge, and with you involved, we can speed things up."
"But other than that, what about the poisoning? Aren't we going to hold Mrs. Merlock accountable for that?"
Cedric replied, "Of course we will, but Mom's treatment is still uncertain. If she finds out right now that Mrs. Merlock is behind her poisoning, I'm afraid she won't be able to take it. Give it some time, and we'll tell her when the moment's right."
Magnus nodded. "Sure."
Cedric reached out to firm pat his shoulder and reminded him, "Just remember—don't let anything slip in front of Mom."
"Got it."
Magnus' heart was heavy, but after everything he'd been through, he came to understand the weight Cedric had been bearing alone in silence all this while.
…
When Noelle returned to campus, she felt a quiet unrest in her chest at the thought of Emma's condition. She'd been so viciously targeted by the Merlocks.
As she walked into class, she felt people staring at her with weird looks. She slid into the seat beside Grace and leaned in to whisper, "What's going on?"
"Look at this. Laura must've gone mad. She's livestreaming right now, saying she hooked up with Cedric at a hotel and that you're the mistress."
