It was the only motive that made any real sense since Mia did have a substantial fortune in her name. After all, Salena had spent years playing the long game just to get her hands on it.

Mia's expression grew complicated. "I'm not sure. But legally, everything was left to me in my father's will, so no one can take it away."

"Exactly. Otherwise, Mrs. Cantrell would've already drained you dry. But Ivy married your dad, had a son, and still walked away with nothing. Don't you think that might be eating at her?" Noelle had always found Ivy's indifference toward wealth a little too performative.

Grace's eyes widened as it clicked. "So, Ivy came back for the money? But how could she possibly get to your assets? Even Mrs. Cantrell couldn't pull it off."

Noelle explained, "That's because Mrs. Cantrell still had some pride. She figured she could manipulate Mia into giving it up willingly later, so she didn't act too soon. Did you forget how Mrs. Cantrell snapped and tried to lock Mia up when things didn't go her way?"

Grace nodded quickly. "You're right. People will do anything for money."

Mia gave a faint, bitter smile. "But Ivy's never shown anything like that."

Noelle replied, "That's exactly how you know she's calculating. Besides, she can't touch your money now anyway. It's all locked in PZ Group investments, right? Still not matured."

She looked at Mia and added, "Either way, you need to stay alert."

Mia nodded. "I will."
