Donovan knew he was in the wrong, and he could not help but admit to it. "Noelle, I admit that it was my fault that things ended up like this."
"Hah, it's rare to see you owning up to your own faults, Donovan," Noelle replied.
He held himself back after seeing the mocking look in her eyes. "Tell me, what happened to the money?"
"Mr. Quigley had already transferred the money away. He's gone missing, and your money's gone with him, too. As for what to do next, you'll have to figure it out yourself."
With that, she headed upstairs, not intending to talk with Donovan any longer.
Donovan sat alone on the couch. He looked up to find two black and white photos of his parents and felt like his heart was being squeezed. He never once imagined that things would end up like this.
After returning to her room, Noelle thought about everything that had happened just then and sent Cedric a message. "Xenia's pregnant."
She found the whole situation extremely dramatic. She never expected Xenia to get pregnant now of all time.
Cedric soon called her over the phone and said, "How are things over at the Liddell family? Is Xenia's baby part of the family?"
Noelle chuckled in response, and his reaction was exactly what she had expected.
She explained, "I still feel like something's off even though Xenia insists that the baby is Wyatt's. Anyway, they've already gone to the hospital for a checkup."
"Are they refusing to call the police because of the baby?"
"You guessed it right," Noelle then told Cedric about Wyatt's condition. "If the baby really is Wyatt's, then he'll definitely try to find a way to protect Xenia."
She did not expect things to turn so chaotic.
Cedric thought for a while and replied, "Which hospital are they going to? I'll send someone over to keep an eye on them, just in case Xenia tries to pull any tricks."
After everything that had happened, Donovan would no longer treat Xenia the same way he used to. Even now, he was just keeping her around for his own agenda.
After all, reporting Xenia to the police to send her to prison would be letting her off easy.
Cedric replied, "I'll be supporting you no matter what you decide to do."
His voice coming from over the phone was deep and alluring.
Noelle held onto her phone as she turned to look at the night scenery outside the window. The night sky resembled that of a mesmerizing, deep blue and black colored gemstone.
Her heart was beating slightly faster as she replied, "But you didn't support me when I said that we should break up."
Cedric took a deep breath and froze up on the spot, wondering what Noelle had meant by those words.
