No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 845

Noelle hadn't had any contact with the Liddells lately. Ever since Xenia had escaped from their hands, Noelle hadn't wanted anything to do with them.

In fact, just thinking about the Liddells made her blood boil—they were a bunch of idiots who had been completely played by Xenia.

When Noelle heard her colleagues mention that Liddell Corporation was on the verge of bankruptcy, it caught her off guard, but honestly, it wasn't surprising. After all, Xenia had swindled them out of a massive sum of money, and there was no way Donovan could recover that much cash so quickly.

It was only a matter of time before things unraveled. While those thoughts raced through her mind, she caught Cedric looking at her again. She wondered what that look was supposed to mean.

She felt absolutely no sympathy when she heard that Liddell Corporation was crashing and burning, and Donovan had no one to blame but himself.

Alfred tapped his knuckles on the table. "What's going on with Liddell Corporation?"

Of course, Alfred already knew the answer. He just wanted someone to say it out loud so Noelle would hear.

Someone answered, "Word is, they're seriously short on cash. PZ Group has been pressing for progress, and if they don't deliver soon, they'll be hit with major penalties per the contract.

"We were thinking... maybe we should strike while they're down and pressure them into selling the project to us. That way, we eliminate a competitor in one move."

Alfred chuckled. "Buying it would cost a fortune, though."

Another chimed in, "Exactly. It's not worth it. We might be better off just letting them collapse—it solves the same problem without spending a dime."

As the room buzzed with discussion, Noelle quietly agreed. Paying to acquire something from Donovan was pointless, especially since he'd never sell to Maple Enterprise in the first place—she knew his personality too well.

...

After the meeting, Noelle went back to her office. Alfred was the first to speak. "Nelly, what's your take on all this?"

She replied confidently, "I don't think it's worth the money. Liddell Corporation was never a real threat to us anyway."

Alfred grinned, then glanced at the two of them before suddenly saying, "Oh right, I forgot something—I need to go handle it now."

He left the room, making sure to close the door behind him. Now, only she and Cedric were left in the office.
