No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 858

Cedric figured Noelle hadn't seen the worst of him. He was just holding back so he wouldn't scare her.

After chatting for a while, Mia yawned. "I'm going to sleep. I didn't rest at all last night."

"I'll help you change the sheets." Noelle went with her into the guest room.

Once Cedric had cleared the dining table, he sat on the couch. His eyes briefly glanced toward the guest room, where laughter from the two ladies faintly echoed. He looked away after just a second.

Half an hour later, Noelle stepped out of the room. She noticed him sitting on the couch and walked over. "She's asleep."

It was clear Mia had been forcing herself to stay awake and chat, but the moment she lay down, she fell right asleep.

Cedric lowered his voice. "Where are my clothes?"

"In my room. Come with me." Noelle didn't think much of it and turned toward the bedroom.

He paused slightly, but he followed.

It wasn't until she heard the door close behind her that she turned around. The spacious bedroom suddenly felt a little too cramped with him in there.

She looked down and handed him the clothes. "These are yours."

However, Cedric didn't take them. Instead, he asked, "What did you say about me earlier?"

Noelle met his dangerous eyes and instinctively stepped back. "Nothing."

"You said I'm the worst. What exactly did I do to you?" As he spoke, he stepped closer.

Noelle found herself backed into the corner of the wardrobe, and there was nowhere left to retreat. Yet, Cedric kept advancing forward until her hand pressed against him, and she felt the heat radiate from his body.

Her hand still held the clothes. As she gripped the pajamas tightly, her face flushed. "I was just saying that since you drove over the lawn on purpose. If that's not a bad idea, what is?"

She didn't get to finish as his hand cupped her cheek. His fingertips brushed over her skin to transfer every bit of heat from his touch.

The kiss wasn't gentle. Instead, it was forceful and almost overwhelming.

In the private, shadowy corner, the two clung tightly to each other, and their breathing was completely out of sync.

Before things spiraled out of control, Cedric pulled back. His dark eyes burned, and his voice was hoarse as he said, "Sweet candy—just like that. Get it?"

He'd wanted to do this for a long time. From the moment she stood at the car window earlier that day, he hadn't been able to hold it in any longer.

Cheeks flushed, Noelle pushed him away, only for the pajamas in her hands to fall to the floor. The boxers tumbled farthest.

As she fled the room, she stepped on them—the gray fabric with a visible hole.

The realization sent her heart shuddering in embarrassment.
