When Laura saw Cedric appearing, her face turned deathly pale. She hadn't expected him to be here. Flustered, she rushed over and asked, "Why are you here?"
Her mind raced; how much of the conversation had Cedric heard? If he learned that Ruth had arranged for him to be in the car on purpose just to exploit the Greene family, the Merlocks would be done for.
Cedric's gaze was icy as he walked past Laura and came up to Ruth. When Ruth saw him, she guiltily stepped back and stammered, "W-why are you here?"
Cedric replied, "Are you that disappointed to see me?"
"Nonsense. Why would I be disappointed? I'm just surprised. How did you know we'd be here? Have you always had us followed?" Ruth said, laughing it off.
Then, she stared at Cedric and continued, "I was the one who found Xenia first. Even if you know what's going on, I hope you won't tell the Liddells. That includes Noelle."
Cedric sneered, "What makes you think I'd stoop to your level?"
"Because you're involved, too. If Noelle learns the truth, do you think you could still be together? She'll never forgive you because, after all, you're one of the people responsible for her parents' death."
Off to the side, Xenia's eyes widened in shock. That was why Cedric treated Noelle so well. It seemed he was associated with that car accident and was trying to make up for what had happened out of guilt.
Cedric's expression darkened instantly as he turned to shoot Xenia a glance.
Xenia quickly lowered her head and pretended she hadn't heard a thing. In the next second, Cedric flatly ordered, "Take Xenia away."
"No. You can't take her. We caught her first!" Laura rushed to stand in front of Xenia. She knew how important the latter was to the Merlock family right now.
Cedric shot her a mocking look. "Do you think you can stop me?"
