Cedric's expression was cold as he got into his car. He immediately called Emma. The phone was picked up, but no sound came from the other end for a long time.
After a brief silence, he said, "Don't let the Merlock family's sweet words fool you again."
On the other end, Emma covered her mouth and sobbed uncontrollably. She'd just heard the things her so-called best friend had said. That moment had hit her like a bolt of lightning, as she would have never imagined that her good friend had manipulated her all along.
Cedric waited for a while before saying, "Please get some rest. I'm hanging up now."
Immediately after, he called Magnus. "Where are you?"
"I'm out with some friends, singing and hanging out."
"Go home now," Cedric instructed in a commanding tone.
Magnus sounded reluctant. "What's going on? What's so urgent?"
"You'll know when you get home. Just make sure no one from the Merlock family gets close to Mom."
Magnus immediately collected himself after the mention of the Merlock family. "I'll go home right now, but you need to tell me what happened."
"I'll explain later. Just get home first."
After the call ended, Magnus dared not delay as he rushed to the Greene residence.
Cedric watched as the Merlocks drove away and had a good idea of where they were going. The truth was often cruel, and he knew Emma was soft-hearted. But everything should be fine as long as Magnus was around.
It was only then that he felt a little more at ease. But now, there was another headache—Xenia. Noelle was going to find out soon; what should he do?
He looked out at the night sky, which was as dark as the expression in his eyes.
