No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 938

Noelle didn't trust anyone from the Liddell family. Any lawyer they found might very well end up being bought off by the Merlocks. She just couldn't trust them.

Just then, Eugene came out holding two large bowls of soup. "Come."

Noelle took one sip and almost choked from the taste. She looked over. "Did you add any salt?"

Eugene replied calmly, "There's none left."

Mia took a sip, too, and her face scrunched up. "This tastes awful."

Eugene glanced at her. "I'll go out and buy some."

Noelle burst out laughing after he left. "I said it was bad, and he said there's no salt left. You say it's bad, and he's out the door buying it. The difference in treatment is brutal."

Mia blushed. "Then you should hurry up and find someone who treats you that well, too."

Noelle paused. "Once I have time, I'll definitely find someone who's good to me."

Mia quickly added, "It's not like good men are that rare."

Noelle nodded and drank the rest of the soup. Then, she stood up. "I'm going back to my room. I won't come out until morning; don't worry about me."

Mia stared at Noelle's back. Didn't she say the soup was bad? And she even finished the whole thing in one go.

Thinking of Noelle and Cedric's situation, Mia sighed. Who knew what would happen once the trial began?

Soon after, Eugene came back and saw Noelle had already finished her bowl.

But Mia hadn't touched hers. He glanced at her. "Why haven't you drunk yours?"

"It tastes awful. I can't drink it." Mia noticed Eugene looking at Noelle's empty bowl. She said, "Noelle just got her heart broken. Everything probably tastes the same. I'd be able to drink it too if it were me."

Eugene sat down across from her. "What's wrong with you? When have you ever been heartbroken?"
