Cedric's gaze swept over the bold SUV as he commented, "Didn't expect this to be your type."

Noelle gave her car a playful pat and smiled. "Only a beast like this can hold a soul as wild as mine."

He fell silent for a moment. Did that mean she didn't like the sleek sports car?

Before he could say anything else, Laura appeared out of nowhere and grabbed his arm. "Cedric, please, are you that determined to destroy the Merlock family?"

Noelle turned around and saw her. Unlike the once-glamorous top socialite she'd once been, Laura now looked pale and disheveled. Things had clearly gone south for the Merlock family.

It was no wonder they hadn't stirred up any trouble lately; they must have been too busy scrambling to keep afloat.

Cedric's expression darkened as he glanced at her hand clinging to his arm. "Let go."

Just then, Samantha arrived, supporting Ruth, who looked equally worn and fragile.

Ruth's eyes were filled with desperation as she stared at Cedric and said, "But lawsuits and businesses are two different things. Are you sure you want to leave us bankrupt?"

Ruth's eyes welled up with despair. "You're brutal! Does your mother know what you've done?"

"She won't stop me," Cedric coldly spat.

Noelle's eyes were sharp and cold. "If the Merlock family hadn't used dirty tricks to steal my parents' bid, you would've gone bankrupt back then. You've clung to life for all these years, and that's enough."

Laura aggressively chimed in. "But that's just how business works. My mom never meant to kill your parents."

"Oh, shut up. After your mom orchestrated my parents' deaths, she bribed the project managers and poached them to your company. Isn't that part of the plan?

"If my parents were still alive, and even if you stole the talent, they still would've landed that deal. But you didn't want competition and decided to completely wipe them out."

Ever since Noelle became a shareholder at Maple Enterprise, she learned just how brutal businesses could be.
