Chapter 20: When you are mine.
*Aaron*
I watched Jane smile nervously. Her fingers tightened slightly
around the edge of the iPad. “It should all look very real.” Her
tone was light and casual, but I wasn’t fooled. There was a
flicker of hesitation and vulnerability in her eyes.
It was gone in a second.
She lowered her gaze to the screen. “We need to get back on
track with the plan.”
There was still a hesitant tone in her voice, and as she risked a
glance at me, I made a decision. I didn’t want to let her go. I didn‘
t want to watch her ride off into the sunlight with Xander. Not
a chance in hell.
I wanted her, and I would do whatever it took to get her. Even if
it meant going along with this silly plan. I would smile and be as
charming as she wanted me to be. Because no matter what
happens, she will ultimately be mine.
Fen, my wolf growled in agreement. There was nothing anyone could do about it. Not even Xander could stand in my way.

I rolled my car to a stop in front of the Blackwood Group. She unclipped the seatbelt and stepped out of the car. I watched her straighten her blouse before turning back to me with a bright
smile.
She laughed so hard that I wondered if she could read my mind. Oh my God. I hope she couldn’t see it. If she knew that all kinds of thoughts and to be honest – desires were swirling in my mind, she would probably have rushed up the stairs without a
second look.
“Thanks for the ride” she said softly. Her fingers fiddled with
the strap of her purse as her eyes flicked to mine. “For today, and for bringing me back. You’re pretty decent for a fake.
boyfriend. I really had a good time.”
“It’s all in the job description, princess” I said with a shrug.
She gave a small laugh. “Don’t let it get to your head, Aaron.”
I looked at her then, really looked at her. “too late for that.” It
was. I was already too far gone.
That made her pause. She smiled at me one last time before she
turned to leave. Her heels clicked against the pavement, as she
moved farther and farther away from me. Then she stopped

and turned back around.“You don’t have to wait for me,” she
yelled
“I know,” I yelled back without missing a beat. “but I want to.”
Her lips parted slightly, like she might say something else, but
then she just gave me one last look, and then she turned and
walked through the glass doors.
I stayed where I was, gripping the steering wheel. Through the
windshield, I watched her step into the elevator, watched the
doors close around her until she was gone.
I leaned back into my seat and exhaled long and slow. Time to
go see the husband.
I didn’t want Jane to know about this meeting with Xander. Not
because I was trying to hide anything from her, but because I
didn’t want her to worry about what he might say or what might happen. It was why I waited for her to go in. I needed to
make sure she wouldn’t find out about this,
After about two minutes, I pushed the car door open and walked into the building. The receptionist at the lobby with the name tag, Lily, practically bounced toward me.
“Good afternoon Mr. Lorenz!” she chirped. “Alpha Xander has asked me to escort you to the office.”

“Why the rush, Xander?” I leaned back and fixed an easy smile on my face. “With a marketing department like yours, and with someone as talented as Jane in charge, you could break into any

“Yes,” he said, leaning back, clearly trying to appear at ease. “We‘ ve been through many storms and challenges. But our marriage has never been stronger.”

Sure it is.
“We love each other,” he added.
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.
“Jane is my family,” Xander continued. “Her friends are my
friends too. And from what I understand… Jane tells me you’re
friends.”
There was the bait. I gave him a slow smile. “Oh, is that so?”
He nodded.
I grinned. “Jane is a special woman.”
His jaw clenched. “But you’re just friends, right? That’s all it is?”
I wanted to grin, badly. Instead, I lifted an eyebrow. “I think so.”
It was technically the truth.
“And there is nothing more to it?”
I tilted my head, feigning confusion. “Like what?”
“I don’t know” Xander said, his voice growing more strained.
“Maybe a little extra?”
“Excuse me?”

He sighed, “You know what I mean.”
“Do I?”
That’s when he dropped the mask. He cleared his throat, his jaw
clenched. “Mr Lorenz, are you fucking my Luna?”
