The next morning.
As Eleanor drove out, she noticed Lanny's car following behind her. She didn't reject the protection. While she could have hired her own bodyguards, Ian's team had been with him for years and were highly responsible and capable.
With Gina Quinn undergoing treatment with the new drug, Eleanor didn't have the time or mental energy to arrange her own security.
At noon, Eleanor found time for a video call with Joel Kingsley to discuss several civilian projects. Goodwin & Co.'s civilian sector was now far ahead of other companies' standards, backed by the Neural Interface Project and producing top-quality products.
Eleanor had to admire Ian's judgment in people and his investment direction. As the helmsman who had kept Goodwin & Co. standing strong and growing, Ian certainly had the courage and capability.
Just then, Joel said from the other end, "I have to go to a meeting. Mr. Goodwin is here."
Eleanor nodded. "Okay, go ahead."
In the large conference room at the research facility, Ian had come to hear a progress report.
He was surrounded by Byron Chase and a few other executives. Faye Yeaton, carrying documents with two assistants, walked down a corridor and her heart leaped with joy when she saw Ian.
She hadn't seen Ian in a while. Even though she considered him her future brother-in-law, she found herself captivated by his charm time and again.
"Ms. Yeaton, is something wrong?" an assistant asked, looking back at her.
"Wait here for me. I'm going to go say hello," Faye said. She straightened her clothes and walked toward Ian with a sweet smile.
Returning to her group, Faye looked back at Ian. A bitter taste filled her mouth. She hadn't expected him to be so distant.
It just didn't make any sense.
Had he and Vanessa had a fight? Honestly, sometimes Faye felt that Vanessa didn't deserve a man like Ian at all.
But the things Ian had done for Vanessa made her believe he did care for her. Otherwise, why would he take her everywhere? He had even invested in her father's company and helped it go public.
Faye had to believe that Ian did all this for the Yeatons because of Vanessa. And wasn't it Ian who gave Vanessa all the expensive jewelry and gifts she frequently showed off?
The more Faye thought about it, the more wronged she felt. Ian had completely disregarded her feelings.

Story not going anywhere....
I love this couple, I hope they get back together!...
Without Vanessa to serve as an antagonist, it’s turned a reasonably story into dead wood. I just can't anymore. After, Vanessa's life went downhill it was the perfect time to wrap up the story....
