"Wow! It's so beautiful!" Evelyn exclaimed in amazement. Living in the city, she rarely got to see such lush, green landscapes.
"Mommy, look! There's a big butterfly over there, and it's blue," Evelyn said, pointing with a curious expression.
Eleanor Sutton glanced in the direction her daughter indicated and saw a butterfly flitting among the flowers. The sunlight filtering through the leaves and the fresh scent of wildflowers carried by the mountain breeze lifted her spirits as well. "It's lovely."
Beside them, Gavin Young was also dressed in athletic wear with a hiking backpack. He was happy to be accompanying his boss somewhere other than a conference room for a change.
"That's a Blue Swallowtail," Ian explained to his daughter.
"It's so pretty!" Evelyn chased after the butterfly, running happily across the grassy field.
Eleanor took out her phone to capture her daughter's joyful moments.
Standing to the side, Ian's expression softened unconsciously. The bodyguards were discreetly positioned around them, careful not to disturb their fun.
As they began their hike, Evelyn was curious about everything along the trail, frequently stopping to examine wildflowers and small plants. She was especially thrilled when she spotted a little squirrel.
Eleanor patiently stayed by her daughter's side, telling her the names of the various plants.
"Mommy, you know so much," Evelyn said with admiration.
Ian followed quietly behind them. Gavin walked alongside, snapping candid photos with his camera, often capturing Eleanor and Evelyn when they weren't looking, with his boss naturally in the frame as well.
Although his boss hadn't given him any instructions, when Ian had asked him the previous night if he had a camera, Gavin knew exactly what his task for the day would be.
Ian was suddenly reminded of when he and Eleanor had just gotten married. They had gone hiking together like this back then, and Eleanor had been just as knowledgeable about the mountain plants.
Ian took out a soft towel to wipe his daughter's sweat, then thoughtfully pulled out the damp cloth from behind her back and replaced it with a fresh, dry one.
That gave Eleanor pause. She'd completely overlooked such a fine detail.
But since Ian had been raising their daughter from a young age, he was indeed more attentive when it came to caring for her.
Gavin noticed this as well, though he wasn't surprised. After seven years with his boss, he knew Ian was an exceptionally competent father.
Forgetting his own thirst, he quickly raised his camera to capture the moment. Through the lens, Ian's profile was especially gentle as he bent down to wipe his daughter's forehead.
The heartwarming scene made Gavin recall a few years ago, when Evelyn was two or three. She would always sit in her father's arms during outings, looking like a lovely doll.
